    Nice job!

I object to our local news people (so called) who seem to spent every newscast talking about Facebook and Twitter and what’s “trending” instead of giving me the news.

    And stay off my lawn!

Exactly. Unlike the other woman this pair seemed to have a clue what they (and he) were talking about.

Patti, Patrick’s interview is not as terrific as Meghan’s adventures. Or her scintillating review in today’s NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW!

Bob, credit cards are going to be phased out over the next couple of years. We’ll all be forced to use smart phones to charge stuff.

We both have a 4 S and are perfectly happy with them. Barbara updated to IOS 7 a few weeks ago and after working with it on her phone I don’t care much for the “improvements” including the ridiculous new icons, which look like they were made for 6th graders. Of course Windows made it’s colorful new look similarly adolescent. I also don’t like some of the changes in operability with IOS 7, so, for the very little amount I use my iPhone I’m staying with what I have.

I check my email on laptop or desktop Macs, do searches on those larger screens too. The speakers on the phone are silly bad compared to my real speakers for music, and I don’t text, Tweet or F-Book, so upgrades are of little use. Patrick did a good job in the interview.

Every time we go into Starbucks it seems more and more people use the app on their smart phone to pay, though there are always a minority who use cash. Some others use debit or credit cards. Jackie got a gold Starbucks card when she retired so we use that. Also, by registering it you get free drinks fairly often.

George, per your comment to Bob, I seriously doubt credit cards are going to be phased out in favor of smart phones. There are still millions of people in this country alone – not to mention the many, many millions world wide – who do not have nor use cell phones, let alone smart phones capable of bank transactions. The security implications, hackers, stolen instruments, password problems and the cost for the banks and customers will keep this from happening longer than you are guessing.

No football talk today? And the Saints went to 5-0.

Full disclosure: I have a two-year-old i-phone and have yet to upgrade the o/s even though I keep getting “reminded” to do so everytime I turn it on.

…and the Giants are a pathetic 0-5. Unbelievable.

I was surprised at the Patriots, I must admit. And I’m rooting for Peyton to pull it out against the hated Cowboys.
