I get worried when I see books organized by color. A used book store owner once told me that his best customers were interior decorators. They didn’t care about titles or what the book was about. They just wanted books that were a certain color or leather bindings, etc. They used the books to decorate living rooms and dens or perhaps furniture stores. In other words no one ever intended to read the books.
I hope you can give us another photo about 10 years down the line.
I agree with you guys. Organizing by color isn’t my thing. At the bookstore, I often say “I know just what we’re looking for – it has a black cover.” When we find it, it’s orange.
Cool. A little minimalist for my taste, perhaps, but roomy. Is it a loft?
Good eye, Jeff. Yes, Patrick rents a loft and is slowly filling it with books!
Soon he’ll need more.
So true, Bill.
There are NEVER enough book shelves!
Deb, you are SO right!
AN excellent way to make a loft, which often seem cold, warm! I want to see the titles though.
Patti, you’ll notice Patrick organizes his books by COLOR! I’m an old fashioned alphabetical guy.

Trust me, Walker, Patrick is a reader. But, he’s also artistic. Color is very important to him.
I’m with Walker. Organizing by color is for show, not logical use. That area in the center needs a good reading chair and lamp.
Rick, I think Patrick was looking for a reading lamp and chair this weekend.
A total lack of mass market paperbacks as far as I can see. And look at all that unused space. Too neat and clean, also. The kid has a way to go.
Bob, Patrick’s pulp fiction holdings are minimal. But I make up for that!

Beth, I’m the same way with books: color and shape get confused. But, I can find anything if the collection is alphabetical!
Those are fantastic, and what a great place.
