George, I have only seen Raymond Burr as Perry Mason in the 80s-90s TV version but not in the original 50s-60s series where he actually looks like Mason of the paperbacks. I can’t get used to Burr playing the role with a beard.

Prashant, the early TV PERRY MASONS can still be seen on some cable channels. These “TV-movie” PERRY MASONS are seldom seen, but they were popular back in the 1980s. Like you, I never liked Burr’s beard.

A perfect example of you can’t go home again. I loved the old series, didn’t care for the later one. I kept waiting for Mason to roll in in a wheelchair and start bellowing like Ironside.

Patti, the original PERRY MASON series was terrific. I have those DVD sets but haven’t had time to watch them. These later PERRY MASON movies are a different story.

Well, Jackie was a huge (no pun intended) fan of Mason from the old days (and IRONSIDE, I should add) so we’ve seen every one of them. At least they were better than the execrable Monte Markham as Mason version. We even bought an IRONSIDE DVD.

Jeff, I was never a big fan of IRONSIDE even though Raymond Burr created another iconic character in that series. The less said about the deplorable Monte Markham Mason the better.
