A while ago, Todd Mason recommended Polar Diet Orange Dry. I’m always looking for new beverage options so I went to Wegmans…and struck out. They had many Polar products on the shelves, but NOT Polar Diet Orange Dry. I went to TOPs. Same thing: plenty of Polar products but no Polar Diet Orange Dry. I then tried our local Consumer Beverage Center. Again, no dice.
So I did what I always do: I ordered Polar Diet Orange Dry from AMAZON. Within a few days, it arrived. Diane initially thought the box was fu ll of books–she was getting The Look ready–but when I opened it and displayed the cans of Polar Diet Orange Dry, she retreated from DEFCON 5.
Over the next few days, I drank a can of Polar Diet Orange Dry daily. I agree with this review: “Polar Diet Orange Dry is widely praised for its crisp, refreshing, and authentic orange flavor, often described as a ‘dryer,’ less-sweet alternative to Orangina or traditional orange soda. It features real orange juice concentrate, a distinct, sharp carbonation, and a ‘fleshy’ citrus taste that makes it popular as a low-calorie, versatile beverage.”
I don’t know about “fleshy” but it sure tastes good to me! If you’re looking for something a little bit different with low calories and refreshing orange flavor, you might consider giving Polar Diet Orange Dry a try. Are you a fan of sparkling water? GRADE: A
I wouldn’t say a “fan” but I ‘d drink it. When I was a kid, orange soda was my favorite, but I haven’t had any in years. Nowadays I drink mostly straight water. Soda? Mostly diet Coke or Pepsi. Occasionally Diet Sprite or Ginger Ale.
I’d probably try this if I came across it.
You and Jackie have the same buying habits!
Jeff, I have had nothing but satisfaction with AMAZON over many years. Yes, I’m not happy with Bezos snuggling up to Trump or gutting the WASHINGTON POST. But as far as AMAZON is concerned, my orders arrive promptly. The few problems I’ve had were all resolved to my satisfaction by Customer Service. With service like this, why would I switch? I’m sure Jackie feels the same way.
Jackie wants to know: what does it cost?
Jackie, I paid $27 for 12 cans with free delivery.
Yikes! The liter bottles at local NJ Wegmans (since the internet hates apostrophes) runs one $1.19. They damned well should provide excellent service, Amazon, at that price.
I will say that it is much more a juice-flavored soda than a typical seltzer, though Polar does a raft of those as well. I’d bend their ear to get them to try to stock it at your local W, George, inasmuch (for goodness’s sake) you’re closer to the New England bottlers than I am. (I’ve just learned that W is ununionized, at least in NJ….but that gives them even less excuse to skimp on their soda offerings.)
And glad you liked it!
Todd, thanks for recommending POLAR DIET ORANGE DRY! I like it a lot. I’ll keep looking for it at local stores. And, maybe I can bend the ear of a Wegmans order clerk to stock it.
And the non-diet Orange Dry is aa bit more sugary than Orangina,:
Polar Orange Dry (non-diet): 12oz can: Total Carbohydrate 47g
17 % (USRDA)
Total Sugars 47g
Added Sugars 45g
Orangina: 12 0z. can: Sugars 38g (possibly more given the local bottlers)
I do stick with the Diet, of course. 12 oz. can: Sugars: 2g
1L bottle: Total Sugars: 3g (I always drink the liter bottles, preferring the plastic to the aluminum poisoning–get that from Bing juice sodas)
Todd, anything with sugars at 45 grams is too much for me
Almost anyone!
$27 for 12 cans
4 6-packs for $40 is cheaper
Jeff, I may go that way with my next order if I can’t find Polar Diet Orange Dry in any of our local stores.
It sounds expensive! I like orange soda but not enough to pay that much! I had a roommate who drank Bierley’s, which was pretty good, but I haven’t seen it in 50 years! When I was a senior in high school, my after-school treat was an Orange Crush and a Ring Ding! I quit drinking Orange Crush when the hated Denver Broncos adopted the name for their defense!
Bob, I too drank Orange Crush–it was available everywhere–but today I don’t drink sugary sodas.
I might go out to go pay $1.67 a can for three flavors of Bing (particularly the apple-heavy Brisk) at the local big Acme (for some years now a corporate cousin of Safeway). A man who is intent on dissolving his bones in soda and seltzer has to keep an eye out for relative bargains. Acme formerly was my source for Cascade Ice, but they stopped sending them out east of the Mississippi, apparently, much to my chagrin, as when I see similar online prices to what Amazon offered you. Happily, the Sparkling Ice line seems to go on sale regularly, as well, around here.

“The fleshiness of the Orange Dry is almost mummified.” Flavorful, yes…I, too, would not quite choose “fleshy” for an adjective.
Among orange flavoured drinks, nothing for me beats Fanta.
Neeru, Fanta is hard to find around here. I’ve had to go to Canada to buy it.
George I am SO glad to find you…I have LOVED this drink for years and years…I can only find it at a distant Wegman’s and I buy them ALL out! I have never had a diet drink like it. So refreshing…everybody who tries it sees the same.
Marilyn, Todd Mason recommended POLAR DIET ORANGE DRY and although it took some time to finally taste. You’re right: it’s refreshing and tasty!
