REMASTERED PART 1 By Kate Bush

I’m a big fan of Kate Bush’s music so when I heard that Kate was remastering all of her classic albums, I was eager to listen to the result. Scintillating sound! Remastered Part 1 delivers a box set of seven CDs full of Kate Bush’s unique songs. Here are the seven albums included in this set:
THE KICK INSIDE (1978)
LIONHEART (1978)
NEVER FOR EVER (1980)
THE DREAMING (1982)
HOUNDS OF LOVE (1985)
THE SENSUAL WORLD (1989)
THE RED SHOES (1993)

Remastered Part 2 is scheduled for 2019. It will be another boxed set of Kate Bush’s later albums. If you’re a Kate Bush fan, this is a must-buy! A perfect holiday gift (to yourself!). Do you have a favorite Kate Bush song? GRADE: A

I like Kate Bush but this set is a bit pricey for me. Not familiar with all her albums but my favorite is probably Hounds of Love. Favorite song Cloudbursting .

Steve, the new remastered version of HOUNDS OF LOVE sounds fabulous! I’m sure these new versions of Kate Bush’s albums will eventually be sold individually.

No. Don’t know her music at all and couldn’t name a song.

Keep stimulating the economy! You and Jackie are keeping the country going.

I loooove “Running Up That Hill”—one of my favorite songs from the 1980s—but I must confess to knowing very few other of her songs. I always think of her as the English version of Stevie Nicks—sort of ethereal and wrapped in gauzy scarves and veils, while singing desperate songs about heartbreak, etc.

Deb, great description of Kate Bush! You’re right about her ethereal music (and fashion!). I was always impressed with the sound of Kate Bush’s music–plenty of layers and complexity. But these remastered albums send the sound off the charts! It’s a party for your ears!

The CD we’re listening to now is BRING IT ON HOME, a collection of vintage blues and soul covers by Joan Osborne. Osborne was a “special guest” at the Lantern Tour’s Concert for Refugees last month, and we’ve liked her the few times we’ve seen her. This sounded good but wasn’t available from Amazon now, so we found a very good used copy for about $3.50. I like it.

Joan Osborne’s version of “What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted” appears in the documentary, STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF MOTOWN. And, of course, on YouTube.com. Love it!

Jeff, I’ve always been a fan of Joan Osborne. She had some early success with the hit “What If God Were One of Us.” But then she got caught up in contract troubles with her record company and her career veered into nothingness for a few years.

She left the concert early because she had to go home and take care of her 13 year old daughter. I love her version of “I Don’t Need No Doctor.”

“What If God Were One of Us” was used as the theme song for JOAN OF ARCADIA, as I recall. “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted” is Jackie’s favorite Motown song so we will look for that one.

Rick, Jimmy Ruffin had the first hit with “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted,” but dozens of artists and groups have covered this song.

Jimmy Ruffin was the older brother of David Ruffin of the Temptations, lead singer on “My Girl” and “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” among others.

Jeff, Jimmy Ruffin had a hit with “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted” in 1966 and the song went on to be recorded by many artists and groups in the years afterward.
