Sexy ’80s presents a mix of songs, some familiar and some long forgotten like The Vapors “Turning Japanese.” It was good to hear the Thompson Twins hit “Hold Me Now” and the Greg Kihn Band’s classic “Jeopardy.”
It’s been a while since I’ve head “She’s A Beauty” by The Tubes and Matthew Wilder’s “Break My Stride” which seem to have disappeared from Oldies Radio here.
Do you remember these songs from the 1980s? Any favorites here? GRADE: B-

I’m vaguely familiar with a few of them but wouldn’t waste my money on this collection!
Bob, paid 25 cents for SEXY 80s…
You were robbed!
Bob, just think that the quarter you put in the slot machine at the casino could have bought SEXY ’80s!
I know all of them (yeah, big surprise from a 1970s-Disco-Dolly-Turned-1980s-Reagan-Era-Go-Go-Girl*), like most of them, and love love love one of them: “Here Comes the Rain Again”—possibly my favorite Eurythmics song ever.
(*Although I must assert that I never voted for him.)
Deb, I’m with you on “Here Comes the Rain Again.” I love the Eurythmics and Annie Lennox!
I am happy that Eighties music passed me by. I only song that I remember is “I Want Candy,” and until this morning I thought my memory was just a bad dream.
I understand, however, that I was super-sexy in the 1980s and I expect to remain so as I approach my actual eighties.
Jerry, it doesn’t surprise me that you were a swinger in the 1980s and swing a great book review today!
I know two or three, but definitely NOT my era, and I wouldn’t take this for free.
And keep off my lawn!
Jeff, like Deb, I knew all these songs because I listened to them on my car radio on my way to work in the 1980s.
I know a few because this was my kids’ era so they were playing all the time.
Patti, Patrick and Katie used to take turns to “ride shotgun” in the front seat of my car so they would change the radio stations.
Drawing a blank on six of these. I pretty much like all the others. George, like you, I listened to drive-time radio in the 80s as I burned gas in stop and go traffic
Fred, the music of the 1980s filled a lot of Drive Time for me. These songs bring back a lot of memories!
Suffice to say I haven’t thought of The Blow Monkeys in 40 years.
Byron, there are some One Hit Wonders on SEXY ‘8Os…like The Blow Monkeys.
I remember them all, a few barely, though there were much better songs in the ’80s, even on the rock/pop charts. The Go-Gos, the Bangles, Sade Adu, the newly stripped-down King Crimson, Chaka Khan, the Pretenders, R.E.M., Blondie, Whitney Houston, Prince Nelson and the Revolution, an uptick in the careers of Tina Turner and the Kinks, Jawbox, Fugazi, Minor Threat, the Bad Brains, Husker Du, Cringer (the first Hawaiian punk band to get a lot of attention on the mainland–co-founder Lance Hahn, I’ve finally learned, died at just 40 in 2007, of kidney failure, though he was never a wild man as far as I knew him, but a very Positive Force kind of person…born in ’67, three years younger than I. Damn. Among many others,
Todd, SEXY ’80s presents a stripped down look and listen of the 1990s. A few Big Names and a lot of fringe singers and groups…
Well, George, all of these were at least medium big hits, but the majority, I suspect, were easy to pick up for anthologizing for a (koff) song by, say, the 2010s (or a bit later–I assume this one was 2nd-hand or a “cut-out” as in remaindered recording, if it ran you 2 bits). I was not a top 40 maven then or ever, but I did hear them all. And the balance of them not all that damned sexy.
Todd, I think “Sexy” was a marketing ploy for this CD.
I remember Rick Moranis’s “Tom Monroe” (Vaughn Momroe and others MOR parody) SCTV satiric impression crooning “Turning Japanese” at least as well as the Vapors’ original–though the interstitial work by Moranis as vj Jerry Todd is missing. (Eugene Levy’s nearly comatose Perry Como as good). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_eEx3XPuj0
The Police, The Specials, Men at Work…
Vaughn Monroe, of course. Though a number of Moms and Grandmas in his audiences at all times, I’m sure.
Todd, my mother loved “Red Roses for a Blue Lady.” Vaughn Monroe knew how to croon…
Todd, but THE POLICE, THE SPECIALS, and MEN AT WORK would cost more money…

Wondering if miracle by Jefferson airplane is the wrong era??? That’s very sexy in my opinion
Maggie, Jefferson Airplane morphed into Jefferson Starship who had some hits in the 1980s.
