SICARIO

SICARIO
Sicario is Spanish for “Hit Man.” Emily Blunt plays an FBI agent recruited by a team who battles drug cartels. This elite government task force is led by Josh Brolin’s character. Their mission is to aid in the escalating war against drugs on the border of the U.S. and Mexico. A quirky consultant played by Benicio Del Toro has the the team set out on a secret mission that forces Emily Blunt’s character to question everything about the drug war. This narco-thriller is intense. I just wish they gave Emily Blunt more to do at times other than to stand around and look pensive. GRADE: B+

I like Emily Blunt too – in Devil Wears Prada, Edge of Tomorrow and others. I was impressed by the job she did in Into the Woods. I’m sure we’ll see this eventually, but probably not until it comes to cable.

We’ll be leaving for Bouchercon in a couple of hours. We should arrive late Wednesday afternoon. We’re staying at the Marriott.

    See you tomorrow!

Jeff, have a safe trip! I’m pretty much packed up. Patrick arrives tonight so he’ll probably be taking me to the Airport tomorrow. The weather in the Carolinas looks better.

Jeff, I guess you’re on the road already, but have a safe drive! I hope you have a chance to talk to Jeffery Siger, he seemed an interesting guy when we briefly talked to him in Monterey. Have fun!

Same as Kristen Wiig in THE MARTIAN. I guess that’s the part–someone who just didn’t get the real mission. I thought it was pretty good too although I can’t say I enjoyed it. I thought BREAKING BAD did a lot of it more interestingly although they had a lot longer to do it. Best movie of the weekend trio: THE THIRD MAN, which is coming to art houses in a new print. See you on Thursday!

The Third Man is one of my favorite movies. The music is a big part of that and the setting is another. Going to Vienna and to the Prater and riding the huge wheel was a thrill, even though Orson Welles didn’t pop up.

We’re in Bethesda by the way. An absolutely gorgeous day on the East Coast today and perfect for the drive down.

      1. my name is...

All east coast locales, George. It’s like they don’t care about the wets. Used to be it was east, mid, west, repeat. Yes, I know last yea was Long Beach, CA, but those eastern locations are too far for this old guy.

As you’ve figured out, I’m sure, I’m taking the type the info in thing as an excuse to have fun with various names… but I’m putting my real e-addy and website info in each time. Just playing around.
