Signora Volpe (Mrs Fox) is a British mystery crime television series, produced by Route 24, of which season 1 was broadcast on Acorn TV in 2022. The series was created by Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths, and stars Emilia Fox in the title role.
Former British spy Sylvia Fox tries to settle down in a new life in picturesque Panicale, Italy. However, she soon becomes involved in solving local crimes.
Diane and I like Sylvia Fox (aka, Emilia Fox) and the beautiful Italian scenery in this mystery series. Once again, a tiny village seems to harbor a lot of crime…and dead bodies.
A second series premiered on Monday, 29 July 2024, on both Acorn TV and BBC America, and ran through to 12 August. A third three-episode series began production in September 2025. Our local PBS station started running Signora Volpe late at night–like 3 A.M.–so we DVRed them. GRADE: B+
John and I watched the first series, which we enjoyed for the beautiful Italian scenery and, somewhat less, for the mysteries. The show really seems more of an ad for the Italian Tourism Board than a mystery, but there are enough plots to keep a viewer engaged. Plus John and I always enjoy playing, “What have we seen this actor in before?” when any face familiar to us from other English shows (especially Midsomer Murders) appear on screen.

Yes, Deb. Nicholas Farrell, who plays her father, has been in many other series, frequently as the murderer.
Since we liked the original show in 2022, we tried Fox’s long-running (it continues today!) series SILENT WITNESS, which we now watch (one two-part episode) every Saturday night we’re home. We started with her arrival as Dr. Nikki Alexander in series 8, and we’re now up to series 26 (of 29 to date). She plays a medical examiner.
I think Victoria watches that. We’ll have to add it to our rotation—probably after baseball season, lol.

Deb, many familiar guest stars in Silent Witness. Just saw Jemma Redgrave reprise her role as cop-of-the-week last week. Also, watch for very early performances by since famous people Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbat h, Daniel Kaluuya, etc.
Have to get back to Silent Witness. I was a fan of the first med examiner. 1-8
