I would only count the first three released as classics. Too bad, he didn’t stop after that. I think of kids starting with Part One and wonder if they go any further.

The first released STAR WARS movie (Number 3 in this numbering system) is my favorite, Patti. The CGI effects took over in the later releases.

After watching (so-called) Episode 1 I said I would never watch another. We do have the three “real” movies on DVD.

Do you wonder if at any point Lucas realized how inferior the later films were compared to the first three? Or did years of receiving fan boy adulation dull his critical facilities to the point of uselessness?

Fame and adulation can warp one’s senses, Drongo. Sorry the Broncos lost last night. Hopefully the Bills will thrash the Raiders this weekend.

George, the original Star Wars is movie 4 not 3. Star Wars was killed because Lucas found he could make much more money marketing stuff to kids than making movies. He has forgotten his original audience – those people who stood in line when Star Wars was first released, mainly college students. Now it is aimed at 8 year olds.

I may pick up the three original movie collection, if I can get to Toys R Us before it sells out Friday – they have it for $29.95 on blu-ray (on sale Friday and Saturday only).

I’m in a minority of those who, while recognizing the three prequel films aren’t as good, still enjoy them, just not as much. I’ve bought Star Wars on tape, then on DVD, then on when the upgraded set came out, now I guess I’ll be buying it again. Sigh. I do really like these, though, so it’s okay.

I have problems with Episode #3: REVENGE OF THE SITH, Rick. It just didn’t ring true to me. How could the Jedi (with their powers) not know about the massive conspiracy against them?

George, I stayed up till midnight watching that slopfest of a football game. Sigh. Hope your boys beat the crap outta the Raiders.

Obviously not a fan of the last three SW flicks, but a fair number of people enjoyed them. (I did like the water world.) I know a kid who thinks EMPIRE is too slow and complicated. Oh well.

Since last night was a “School Night” I went to bed at half-time of the Patriots/Dolphins game, Drongo. But I did see the highlights of both games this morning. Were the fans actually chanting “We Want Tebow?”

Didn’t like any of the four I’ve seen, was dragged to “1” and “2” by Alice, hated the glimmers of Brackett’s script in EMPIRE the least (I’ve never seen “6” and wouldn’t let Alice drag me to “3”…haven’t watched the animations, either).

Don’t understand the love by those who have known, say, unadulterated Brackett, as I already did before seeing SW.

If you have a high tolerance for all things STAR WARS, you might enjoy the animated series, Todd. They’re a cut above anything else out there on the Cartoon Network.
