STATE OF THE BLOG 2013

I was concerned when 2013 started off with this blog vanishing and the cryptic messsage “It Works!” appearing in its place. Immediately, I sent an urgent email to my IT specialist, my son Patrick (who was partying in Peru), and a day later my blog mysteriously reappeared. But only in Internet Explorer and on Apple devices. Weird. The explanation is that my blog had been hosted on an old, slow Server. On New Year’s Day 2013, my blog (and thousands of others) were transferred to a new, fast Server. I’m sure you’ve noticed the difference.

In a couple of weeks, I’ll be posting my 1500th daily blog post. I couldn’t have done all these postings without your energy and interest and excellent comments. I want to thank Patti, Jeff, Deb, Rick, Bill, Drongo, Beth, Bob, Carl, Steve, Stan, Dan, Sergio, Todd, Lauren, Randy, Art, Scott, Jerry, Evan, John, Ed, Max, and all the rest of you for your involvement and support!

Back at you, George. It certainly does work…congratulations on the magic number…and I’d say even the cheesecake photo is better than almost all previous ones, so you’re all upward and onward…glad you’ve graced us and will continue to do so…

Upgrades are always messy, Dan. Patrick returns from Peru at the end of the week. Hopefully, he can banish the “It Works!” screen forever.

    Three comments:

    1) Why wait a couple of weeks, George? In fact, think of all the time you would have saved if you had published post #1500 first. (Of course, that would have put a crimp on our daily stops here.)

    2) When I saw the header “STATE OF THE BLOG 2013,” I thought your post would consist of a mere two words: New York.

    3) Congrats and keep ’em coming!

Jerry, I’ve posted blog posts from Ohio, Missouri, Massachusetts, and even Canada. Sure, most of the time I’m in New York, but where I go, the blog goes with me. Thanks for being part of this adventure!

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was told “It works!” everytime I tried to open your site. I thought it was a problem with my phone. When I tried to access through my laptop, I got the message that you were on hiatus in Peru. Glad all is well now. Congrats on #1500, may you go to #15000 and beyond!

Deb, 15,000 posts! Yikes! I’d be pushing a 100-year-old! You’re a key part of this blog. Your soapbox is legendary! On the NFL front, the Buffalo Bills have signed Doug Marrone, a former New Orleans Saints offensive coach. I predicting the Saints and the Bills will be in the Playoffs in 2013!

Am I the only one to notice that her right heel has impaled the poor settee to the extent of at least four inches? Oh yes, congrats on 1500 posts!

You always were a detail guy, Art! I’m not quite up to 1500 posts, but I’ll hit it this month. Thanks for stopping in and elevating the conversations!

Patrick, my IT expert, is partying in Peru, Beth. Diane and I are hunkered down under a foot of snow in Western NY. When the weather improves, we might spend a weekend in Toronto to celebrate our Anniversary.

Hey, the state of the blog is this: it’s a must read every morning. It gives me too many ideas for new books I “need” and so much more.

If I commented on my own blog as much as I do on yours and several others, I might have a decent number, too. But I find this easier.

I think you’d better get over that fantasy about the Bills in the playoffs, George. Maybe in 5 or 6 years but not next year! Meanwhile… like many others here I stop in every day and it’s rare I don’t find something of interest. It’s a very good blog and deserves wider readership.

Stranger things have happened, Rick. With a couple of breaks, the Bills could have been 9-7 this season. If Doug Marrone is the coach I think he is, the breaks may go his way in 2013.

I should keep my observations to myself. All of a sudden I’m a cross between Rex Ryan and Imelda Marcos. Sheesh!

One of my favorite stops every day. Don’t always comment because, even like minded folks have other interests that don’t always overlap. Never fail to check at least once a day.
