2012 WILD CARD WEEKEND, PART TWO

The Colts vs. Ravens game kicks off at 1 P.M. on CBS. As much as I like Andrew Luck and his plucky team (who would have picked rebuilding Colts to make the Playoffs?) I think the Ravens are a better team. The 4:30 P.M. FOX game features another QB phenom, RG3. But once again, I have to go with the tougher, more complete team: the Seahawks. What are your Playoff picks?

The Ravens aren’t all that impressive, but they should beat the Colts. The other game more interesting. I understand why you picked the Seahawks, they’re talented and a lot of fun, but I like the way the Skins have been playing, and I like their coach. The game is in Washington, and I’m picking them to win.

The Redskins have been dodging bullets all season to make it this far but I think it will end today. I’m going with the Seahawks. The Ravens are not what they were, especially defensively. They do have the home field advantage, however. I’m going with the Colts however, partly because I want to see them against Peyton Manning next week.

If Andrew Luck gets hot, the Ravens are in trouble, Jeff. But, this is Ray Lewis’ last home game so maybe the Ravens will be inspired to win this game for Ray.

I’d like the Colts to win the first game, but if I were betting my money would be on the Ravens. I think the team will go into a rebuilding period next year, but they might have this last hurrah. I’m not sure they can win in the next round, though. In the late game, of course I’ll be pulling for the Seahawks. I agree with you, George, no one want’s to play them now. But then, no one wants to play Atlanta in the next round either.

Atlanta has a suspect defense, Rick. The Ravens are going to have to score more points if they hope to stay with Peyton Manning and the Broncos next week!

Well, the Colts had a chance but couldn’t get it done.

And is anyone else wondering who schedules these games? This week was bad enough – games in Houston and Green Bay on Saturday, games in Baltimore and Washington on Sunday. Next week is worse: instead of scheduling the early game in Atlanta one day and New England the other they are both on Sunday while games in San Francisco and Denver are both Saturday. I’d have had games in Atlanta and Denver one day and New England and San Francisco the other. Doesn’t that make more sense?

I hope you’re right, George. I was squirming all through the first quarter of the Hawks/Skins game, but once we got on track I thought we had a chance. Then came Lynch’s fumble and I was groaning again. But the defense held, the offense score more, and it was time to dance in the streets of Tacoma.

As for RGIII, I think the Skins erred in leaving him in as long as they did. The backup guy did all right and if he’d played the entire second half it might have been a different result. Not that I’m complaining, of course.
