STEVE JOBS

steve jobs
Director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin present a portrait of a genius, warts and all. The stars of this movie–Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, and Seth Rogen–are at the top of their game as Sorkin’s script gives them plenty of drama and strong dialogue to work with. Fassbender is convincing as Steve Jobs, a driven perfectionist. You would NOT want to have Steve Jobs as your boss. He was demanding and ruthless. Sorkin’s story shows how Jobs’s success came at a steep price. I’m sure some of the actors in this movie will be in Oscar contention. GRADE: B+

Frankly, I have no interest in this at all. Jobs was an odious human being and I don’t care to pay to see a movie about him, no matter how many “genius” labels are given to him. But Jackie is interested, so at some point I’m sure we will see this.

It won’t be in a theater.

Jeff, I’m offering my students EXTRA CREDIT if they go see STEVE JOBS. There are some excellent insights into business decision making in this film. Yes, Jobs was a jerk…but he was a really really smart jerk.

Been sort of surprised the reviews have been sort of lukewarm. Especially the guy on NPR, who hated the last third. Of course, I will see it though.
