STORAGE WARS, SEASON 6 FINALE

I still miss Barry Weiss, but this reality series still entertains me. No matter how many times they cut the lock and lift the storage unit door, I still feel a thrill at what might be luring in those piles of boxes. The cast has become more diverse over the years (which is a Good Thing) and the oddities found in the storage units keep getting more…odd. Are you still watching Storage Wars or have you moved on?

I have to admit that I’ve moved on. It was an enjoyable show but I think I had my fill of its formula. I haven’t watched it in at least a year.

Deb, I suspect a lot of viewers have moved on from STORAGE WARS. That might explain the move from Tuesday nights to Wednesday nights. I watch STORAGE WARS occasionally, but it is not must-see TV for me.

Jeff, I guess I like the “thrill of discovery” aspect of STORAGE WARS. But, I’m just a casual fan, not a hardcore fan.

Whenever I begin to detect a formula or a scripted show that purports to be real, I move on. This is true with all the H&G shows too. LOVE IT OR LIST IT-I LEFT IT. I never get tired of ANTIQUES ROADSHOW though because it incorporates some history into it.

I’m with Patti on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW: it doesn’t get old because every item has a unique story. Although I recall early in the show’s history, there was a scandal about a “planted” Civil War sword. The show took steps to make sure it didn’t happen again.

And I’m with Bill about the sense that many of the good finds on STORAGE WARS are planted. What are the odds that a unit that held nothing but a bunch of old clothes and particle board furniture would also contain rare Japanese lithographs or Jazz Age cigarette lighters? And what are the odds that something like that would happen every time? Highly unlikely!

Rick, at one time STORAGE WARS was the top rated show on the A&E Network. Over the years, the ratings have slipped and the audience declined.

I still watch it whenever I can but they lost a step with some of the new people. Rene is a slob and I can’t believe he has that hot wife. Hester’s back as mean and ugly as ever and that’s a plus. Mary is sweet. Ivy is too full of himself. I still don’t see what Brandi sees in Jarrod.

But it isn’t true that there’s always gold among the gravel. Lots of times people take a loss.

I PVR it and other shows such as Pawn Stars and Auction Hunters and watch them when I want something light. Of those type of shows I enjoy American Pickers the most.
