SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES [Blu-ray and Comic Combo]

superman batman
Back in 2003, DC Comics published Superman/Batman issues 1-6. The premise was Lex Luthor becomes President of the U.S. and Superman and Batman become Public Enemies as a result. Lex Luthor manages to entice other superheroes like Captain Atom, Power Girl, Katana, and Starfire into working for his Government. Watching superheroes battle each other is one of the attractions of the graphic novels and this new animated movie. This package includes the six graphic novels and two Blu-ray disks with the 69-minute movie and a disk full of extras. If you’re a fan of Superman and Batman, you’ll enjoy this wonderful package. GRADE: B+

This sounds good, George. One can read the novels and and watch the movie at the same time. The animation looks cool. Doesn’t Luthor become President in one of the early comics, from the eighties and nineties?

Prashant, Lex Luthor pretends to be “good” many times in the Superman Saga. But he always reverts to type. I did like the good Lex Luthor from one of the infinite Earths.

Sergio, BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN is a 2 and 1/2 hour commercial for the upcoming WONDER WOMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE movies. I’ll have a review up soon. I suspect this combo pack was released to support the movie in the theaters.

I read the Mickey Mouse comics as a teenager, think I already wrote about them being available from a friend’s parents – didn’t have the money to buy them …

But I also remember being kind of turned off by superman or rather all those superheroes – found them much too childish.
So what’s different with all the people here who still like them and even watch those films as adults?

But I was also disillusioned by most SF films – the books were totally different.
Imho most of what Hollywood produces nowadays (and has produced in the last thirty years …) is sentimental Kitsch!

Wolf, the film industry caters to the largest audiences. Superhero movies are making billions so we’ll see a lot more of them being made!

while cleaning out my book room, I found about 6 copies of a comic book that had a sharyn mccrumb story, probably from the mid 90’s. It also had something by neil gaiman. finding lots of interesting things

I only remember really enjoying the archie comics I did subscribe to Brenda Starr comics for a year.

Of course the really sad story is that when my dad was young, he worked at a straw board, where they pulped newspapers, etc . He brought home tons of golden age comics for his younger siblings. If any of them had been saved what a difference in tax brackets there would have been

A bit OT – re the Batnman vs Superman movie:

Simon & Garfunkel’s classic 1966 song “The Sound of Silence” has jumped up into the Billboard Rock Top 10 chart because of a meme. And a beautiful meme at that.

“Sad Affleck” has taken the internet by storm and racked up nearly 22 million views on YouTube in just two weeks. The video shows a dejected Ben Affleck learning about the horrible reviews Batman V Superman is receiving. “The Sound of Silence” comes in while Affleck stares at the ground, reflecting on every decision he’s ever made in his life.

I didn’t include the link to youtube because then my comment would go into moderation and George would have to work on it …

Wolf, BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN has been crushed by the critics over here. But, the movie is making money…so much for critical reviews.
