The Avengers: The Complete Emma Peel Megaset

Diana Rigg fans, rejoice! Here are all the 51 episodes of The Avengers with Diana Rigg as Emma Peel on 16 DVDs. This complete megaset is a bargain at $39.95! I bought it at BJ’s Warehouse. AMAZON has it for $42.48 (still a bargain). Sure, it’s campy. But Diana Rigg still knocks me out! This video transfer seems cleaner than other sets of The Avengers I’ve accumulated over the years. This megaset would be a perfect present for that fan of The Avengers on your gift list. Check out the video below.

We’ve seen her on stage a couple of times, including her nude scene in ABELARD AND HELOISE.

A return to the stage and a nude scene with Keith Michell for Abelard and Heloise in 1970 led to a notorious description of her as ‘built like a brick basilica with insufficient flying buttresses’, by the acerbic critic John Simon.

She looked pretty good to me at the time.

Rick, there are several more pricey sets of THE AVENGERS out there, but this megaset is priced right. Sixteen DVDs for $39.95 is a steal! Anyone with any interest in THE AVENGERS should jump on this bargain.

My father, unlike John Simon, was yet another to have a serious media crush on Diana Rigg (and Mary Tyler Moore) in the mid 1960s…perhaps Simon was a bit more the Anne Francis type (apparently ABC imported THE AVENGERS to plop it down into what had been the HONEY WEST slot…so, among other things, we can blame ABC for the Destruction of the Family with all this cod-feminism being pumped into tender minds!)(we do know that Simon would later rhapsodize a bit over Barbara Bach in the mid-’70s, so by then, at least, his eyes seemed in fine fettle…and there is such a thing as too thin…). This set is welcome, but I’d love a set including the Mrs. Gale, and the Tara and even any surviving pre-Gale episodes, even if the writing was probably at its height as well with the Peel Sessions…hell, throw in the NEW AVENGERS as a pendant. Yes, I want the Earth. Just not that awful film…Uma Thurman, not an actor I like much, cannot be blamed too much there even by me…

Todd, I agree with you completely. THE AVENGERS movie with Uma Thurman (not my idea of Mrs. Peel) is my choice as the Worst Movie I’ve ever seen.
