You don’t have to know much about the Bourne trilogy of movies to enjoy the latest installment: The Bourne Legacy. Without giving much away, all of these movies are chase movies. The Government wants to shut down a secret spy operation and instead of giving everyone a severance check, the Government decided to kill everyone associated with the secret program. Only, they didn’t quite kill Jason Bourne and in The Bourne Legacy they didn’t kill Jeremy Renner’s character (although they tried really, really hard!). Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton lead an impressive cast on this summer action thriller joy-ride. You will love the incredible motorcycle chase in Manila! GRADE: B+
I Presume this is based on the Lustbader novel. I’ve only read Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity. My former preacher was a fan of Ludlum and Lustbader and W. E. B. Griffin and gave me several after he’d finished them.
The only connection between the novel THE BOURNE LEGACY and the movie THE BOURNE LEGACY is the title, Randy.
I understand the first half of the movie is incredibly confusing. I’m sure we’ll see it.
The first half of THE BOURNE LEGACY is setting up what happens in the dramatic second half, Jeff. I didn’t have a problem with it.
Great case but I think I am spent with Bourne.
THE BOURNE LEGACY is for adrenalin junkies, Patti. Once the action starts, it’s non-stop until the conclusion.
Great cast but I think I am spent with Bourne.
I thought they did a nice job with this. I had determined back when I first heard about it that I wasn’t going to see it. I’m of the opinion that the Bourne trilogy with Matt Damon is one of the most perfect movie trilogies that exists. It tells one complete (one thought) story so well with each film retaining a sense of itself as an individual film. But then the trailers for this hooked me and I had to see it. I’m glad I did. It doesn’t meet the standards of the other films for me…yet…but it was a good set up for another film while also being an adrenaline rush in and of itself. I’m holding out hope now, because of some parts of the storyline, that this ends up being a second trilogy that somehow pulls Bourne back in by the third film.
I think Matt Damon will show up in the second or third volume of this second BOURNE trilogy, Carl. They set it up in this first film with Jason Bourne moving around Manhattan (and getting away).
