THE GRACE KELLY COLLECTION [7-DVD Box Set]

I found another box set while organizing the collection in the basement. Like before, I have no recollection of when I bought this box set of Grace Kelly’s movies. This 7-DVD set includes:
Mogambo (1953)
Dial M for Murder (1954)
The Country Girl (1954)
The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954)
To Catch A Thief (1955)
High Society (1956)

In addition, this set includes Princess Grace de Monaco: A Moment in Time, a documentary featuring Grace Kelly’s final interview. Which is your favorite Grace Kelly movie? GRADE: B+

Probably “Rear Window”–but she’s impossibly beautiful and impossibly classy in almost everything.

I had to think about this for a moment – and then look it up:

Über den Dächern von Nizza is the German title of “To catch a thief” and it was our favourite movie, showing a kind of life we young Germans could only dream of …

I have to confess that when I visited the Cote D’Azure (Nizza, Cannes, Monte Carlo) much later (already in my 30s) I was rather disappointed though and we took our Volkswagen van straight to Spain which was much nicer – and also less expensive!

Her other films of course were fantastic too and I remember how everyboy went crazy when the news about her relation to that prince came out – it felt strange.

She is beautiful in all of her movies but I never thought her much of an actress. She didn’t need to be, I guess.

What Patti said. I’ve never been a fan, but I would definitely go with REAR WINDOW and TO CATCH A THIEF.

Maggie, I need to check out HIGH SOCIETY, too. It’s been decades since I last saw it so I don’t remember much about it.

To Catch A Thief. I like High Society, but that’s because of Sinatra/Crosby, Kelly doesn’t do much in it.

Rick, I’m surprised Grace Kelly won her Oscar for COUNTRY GIRL. As you point out, she had a lot of talented help in TO CATCH A THIEF and HIGH SOCIETY.

Looks like the blog accepts my new nickname, so expect me to keep using it for a while, though I’ll try the real me periodically to check. Odd, I have no trouble on other sites. Still, I’d rather have WordPress than Blogger.

Rick, I applaud your persistence. GOOGLE is working on a program to compete with WORDPRESS and BLOGGER. I might make the switch when it’s introduced.

George I just watch a youtube clip of johnny carson with jonathan winters. He mentioned being on a tv show called davis rules. Have you heard of it?/ I looked on netflix and didn’t find it. I think he won an emmy for it

The Country Girl proved she could act and didn’t depend on her looks, or Bing on his singing! I’ll go with that!

HIGH SOCIETY and DIAL M FOR MURDER are the ones that I would be happiest re-watching. The rest are all all perfectly OK but never got me too excited, must admit. REAR WINDOW is probably the film of her I liked the most.
