Thanks for the reminder, George. We’re now a week behind with our watching but were planning to record this one. Some of the summer cable shows are coming to an end already.

After seeing the study showing that for each hour of television watched, 22 minutes come off life expectancy, we’ve disconnected the TV and put it out at the curb for the trash pickup. I need every minute to read!

If you are selective, you can find many fine things to watch on TV. Likewise many books have been a waste of my time. Moderation is the key. One hour a day of almost everything works out well.

Wow – just read a terrible review of this on Steve Lewis’s blog, saying the script was awful and doomed the show. I guess we’ll have to decide for ourselves.

Well, now that we watched it (about half of it anyway) I have to say, not for us. There was just nothing about it we liked, starting with the characters. If I had to watch one more minute of Freddie preening and throwing tantrums I’d have kicked in the screen. I Just. Didn’t. Care. about any of them or anything that was going on.

It was like a dramatization of an old-time radio show to me, where you see the actors holding scripts and standing in front of the mikes emoting. I never believed in them.

But reading the Times review, obviously there are quite other opinions.

But then, I’m not a MAD MEN lover either, so maybe it’s the period.

I just returned from Physical Therapy, Jeff. I’m doing so well they’re reducing my sessions from twice a week to once a week. I still have “homework” exercises to do each day which I’m happy to do because they increase my range of motion. I’m hoping to attend the St. Louis BOUCHERCON without my cane.
