THE NIGHT MANAGER [AMC 6-Episode Mini-series Begins]

When The Night Manager aired in the UK, it drew a big audience. Whether AMC will see a huge ratings boost with this mini-series is an open question. But, I’ll be watching Tom Hiddleston (famous for his role as the evil Loki in the Thor and Avenger movies) and Hugh Laurie (famous for his grumpy, opioid-popping role as Dr. House). The novel had Laurie’s character selling guns to the Colombian drug loards. This updated version has the gunrunning happening with the Egyptians during the “Arab Spring.” I’m curious to see what other changes this TV version of The Night Manager will surprise its audience with. Will you be watching?

Looking forward to this one, George. My wife likes Hugh Laurie, my granddaughter likes Tom Hiddleston, and I like vegging out before the TV. How can I go wrong?

I’ll be taping it, and look forward to watching it. Wasn’t Hiddleston in Harry Potter? and of course Laurie will always be Bertie Wooster to me.

On an unrelated note, I hear there is an Ab-Fab movie coming out this summer.

No, he wasn’t in Harry Potter. I will be very interested in seeing what kind of job he did as Hank Williams in I SAW THE LIGHT.

Rick, I’ll be watching THE NIGHT MANAGER on AMC and flipping over to MSNBC for the NY Primary election results during the commercials.

Sergio, there have been some major changes between the le Carre novel and this mini-series. The sex of the MI6 handler changed from a man to a woman (and a pregnant one at that!) and the big gun sale is now with the Arabs instead of the Colombian drug cartels.
