THE STATE OF THE BLOG: JANUARY 2010

The two postings that generated the most comments in the second half of 2009 both were part of Patti Abbott’s FORGOTTEN BOOKS series. Shirley Jackson’s classic The Haunting of Hill House garnered plenty of appreciation. And Victor Appleton II’s Tom Swift and the Caves of Nuclear Fire produced reminiscences galore. Drongo actually found a copy of the book and read it! I want to thank Jeff, Patti, Rick, Deb, Art, Bill, Steve, Drongo, Beth, Bob, Richard, David, Tina, Todd, Evan, James, Micheal, Ed, Katie, Martin, Fred, Tom, Juri, Dan, Scott, Phil, Terrie, and all the rest of you for your support. This blog is a partnership and you’re doing a great job holding up your end of the deal!

And thanks for being such an enthusiastic and faithful contributor to forgotten books. Without you and a few others….well, you know. Happy New Year!

I want to assure you that I only visit your blog for the high level of intellectual discourse found here.

    Is that a drop-dead gorgeous gal pictured above? I hadn’t noticed…

George, it’s always a pleasure to visit here, where the bloggers are strong, the women good-looking and all the children are somewhere else. “I wonder what George will have today?” is a thought I have nearly every morning (sometimes even before coffee!). I applaud your dedication to posting daily, something I can’t seem to do. You’re an inspiration.

Also, thanks right back to you for your visits to my humble blog.

Oh and please explain to Crider that the picture is of your Real Estate agent, who sold you your house, in which is your computer, on which is your blogging software. It’s all connected…

Actually, she’s a good “friend” of Steve Stilwell’s, Rick. When I started blogging last year, Bill Crider advised me to post something every day. Your kind words about thinking about my blog (before coffee, no less!) is gratifying. I’ll try to keep the thrills coming!

    Love your blog, George.
Today I was listening to NPR and heard someone claim he was having trouble “finding his voice” in his blog and spent too much time trying to entertain. Your blog reflects you. It seems as though we’re just talking – and entertaining to boot.
    Keep up the good work.
