Boy gets girl, boy loses girl to amnesia, boy has to get girl to remember him again. That’s pretty much the plot of The Vow. I was prepared to hate this movie, but Rachel McAdams won me over despite the predictable plot. Rachel McAdams plays a recently married woman who gets into a car accident that robs her of years of her memories. She doesn’t remember her loving husband (played by Channing Tatum) or her dysfunctional family. But she does remember her old boy friend. Complications ensue. Her husband has to try to get his wife fall in love with him again. There’s nothing original or surprising in this movie. But when Rachel McAdams smiles, my heart does back-flips. GRADE: B
She is a cutie but Hollywood cannot make a decent romance any longer. I can’t be disappointed again. Where is the writing for this sort of film. And I do need a movie to see today as the oil paint goes up in my hallway. It might have to be SAFE HOUSE. Ugh!
I agree with you, Patti. Hollywood seems clueless about how to write a love story that isn’t extreme or sappy.
George, a few more like this and you’re going to have your Man Card revoked.
😉
My favorite Rachel McAdams role was as the returning soldier in The Lucky Ones with Tim Robbins, which I recommend highly. It’s a small movie that really gets it.
We rented Drive yesterday, which we both liked. I see Sallis has a sequel (Driven) coming in April.
Patrick thought DRIVE was the best movie he saw in 2011, Jeff. It’s in our NetFlix queue. I’ve liked Rachel McAdams in everything I’ve seen. THE VOW was Diane’s Valentine’s Day movie. I have to take one for the team.
So patti has become an artist, painting oils in her new studio? Wow, that’s great!
Ah, Rachel, my dream . . . whatever the term is these days. The screen lights up when she smiles- never more than in the first season of Slings and Arrows when she was a regular.
Rachel smiles a lot in THE VOW, Stan. You and I have similar tastes in dream girls.
