I’m a huge fan of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s songs so when I heard Rumer had released an all Bacharah/David CD, I had to have it. Rumer had a hit album with Seasons of My Soul back in 2010. This new album mixes familiar Bacharach/David hits with some more obscure songs. Delightful music! What’s your favorite Bacharach & David song? GRADE: A

Probably Walk On By. Dislike a couple on here-Look of Love and One Less Bell to Answer. A couple I am not familiar with-Balance of Nature, Land of Make Believe and Last One to be Loved.
Steve, there’s a blend of familiar and unfamiliar songs on Rumer’s CD. She’s clearly a fan.
WALK ON BY or THE LOOK OF LOVE.
Patti, I must have a dozen different artists singing WALK ON BY. They’re all great! I always liked Dusty Springfield’s version of THE LOOK OF LOVE.
Too many I like to pick a favorite. There’s also some I’m unfamiliar with. When I saw the name, I thought it was Rumer Willis. I am also unfamiliar with the singer.
Maggie, Rumer is a British singer. I really like her music CDs.
I like the way Brazil ’66 did “The Look of Love”. Not familiar with this singer.
Rick, Rumer’s first CD came out in 2010. I really like THIS GIRL’S IN LOVE. Great music!
I agree with you and Rick – I like The Look of Love in the Dusty Springfield and Sergio Mendes versions. Also a lot of the Dionne Warwick songs, like Walk on By and Anyone Who Had a Heart. Also Baby, It’s You (Shirelles), Only Love Can Break a Heart (Gene Pitney), and many others.
I found their songs too “formulaic” – except the Dionne Warwick song Walk on By, that has been among my favourites (but only when I’m in a romatic mood …
They must have produced hundreds of songs, didn’t they?
Wolf, I’m been listening a box set of 60 Bacharach/David hits. They were a hit machine!
Jeff, I was surprised (as a kid) to find out Hal David and Burt Bacharach were behind Gene Pitney’s hit “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.”
And “24 Hours From Tulsa.” Gene Pitney was a very talented guy. He wrote “He’s a Rebel” for Phil Spector, as well as “Rubber Ball” for Bobby Vee and “Hello Mary Lou” for Ricky Nelson.
Are the songs in that box set by the artists who made them hits, or…?

Wishin and Hopin
What The World Needs Now Is Love
I Just Dont Know What To Do With Myself
From more than 50 years ago …
Wolf, I’m a fan of “Reach Out For Me” and “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself.”
Weird. Just looking at the posts and have the 2nd episode of I’m Dying Up Here playing on tv which is right now playing Walk On By over the closing scene.
Thanks for the list, Jeff. I like Baby, It’s You and prefer the Beatles’ version.
I’ve got the Bacharach box set as well as his more recent album with Elvis Costello which I really liked, especially “God Give Me Strength”. WALK ON BY is probably the one that does it for me, but sorry to see RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD is not included in this new recording.
Sergio, if THIS GIRL’S IN LOVE sells enough, there might be a sequel with more Bacharach and David songs…like RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD.
My favorites are “Anyone Who Had a Heart” and “Walk on By” as sung by Dionne Warwick.
Jim, I’m a big fan of Dionne Warwick. She may have been the best singer of Bacharach/David songs ever.
