‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE…By Cirque Du Soleil

Diane and I traveled to Shea’s Performing Art Center to watch this holiday production. ‘Twas the Night Before… is Cirque du Soleil’s first Christmas show, based on the classic poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clarke Moore.

We enjoyed the blend of thrilling acrobatics, lovable characters, and a soundtrack including holiday classics re-invented by Cirque du Soleil. Jugglers, dancers, inventive acrobatics, vibrant costumes, and semi-disco music garnered a lot of applause from the sold-out crowd. If you’re looking for a different kind of holiday event, ‘Twas the Night Before… by Cirque du Soleil fits the bill. GRADE: B

I’m not, but I’m sure it was entertaining. We’ve seen a couple of Cirque du Soleil shows and enjoyed them.

We used to go see The Nutcracker at Christmas, and saw Alvin Ailey’s company a number of times, but with this year’s awful weather, we’re staying home most of the time.

Wolf, Cher’s concert in Vegas was wonderful! Diane and I have also seen the Cher musical where three “Chers” show the drama and successes of her Life.

I’ve never seen Cirque de Soleil but it’s impressive how long of a run they’ve had. The English National Ballet production of “The Nutcracker” that ran on “Great Performances ” last week certainly had a distinct Cirque vibe to the production design although the music was unchanged and dancing was very traditional. It’s quite charming and available to stream on the PBS app.

Byron, the audience at ‘TWAS THE NIGH BEFORE…By Cirque Du Soleil was most young and enthusiastic. All the gymnastics and upbeat Christmas music met with their approval!
