I picked up this animated video because I saw Neil Gaiman’s name on it. Gaiman wrote the scripts, John Romita, Jr. provides the artwork. The premise is that Earth was visited by super-aliens. They left the Eternals to protect their planet. However, the Eternals find themselves hunted by their ancient enemies. Fans of the Marvel Universe will enjoy this. And, of course, Neil Gaiman fans will want to see this. I’m hoping for a sequel. GRADE: B+
George, I’m so out of touch with new comics, graphic books, and animated videos, not to mention new heroes and characters, that it’s refreshing to read about them here.
Prashant, since Disney purchased MARVEL more and more of these DVDs are showing up in stores. Clearly, there’s a market for superhero animated features.
My grandson would sure love this. But it’s probably too scary.
Patti, you might want to give THE ETERNALS another year or two before showing it to your grandson. Usually kids 10-12 really get into the MARVEL Universe.
George, seems you’ve become another Gaiman groupie. I just don’t see the appeal. As for this being too scary, Patti, I think you’re being a bubble-wrap grandma, it’s a cartoon, is all.
Rick, on the Plus Side IRON MAN makes a brief appearance in ETERNALS. But, on the Minus Side, there are some scenes of torture and violence that might upset Patti’s grandson. My guess the market for animated films like ETERNALS is teen-agers (or guys like me who act like they’re 14-years-old).
It sounds like Hubbard’s history of the Earth, or Teegeeack as he calls it.
Bob, H. P. Lovecraft had a series of super-aliens visiting Earth, too.
Never heard of it.
Jeff, the MARVEL Universe is huge. More characters appear all the time.
