Enjoy the day, George and Diane. A time for reflection and appreciation for those who serve, many of whom interrupted their lives for our freedoms; and a day to enjoy those freedoms while they last.

My father served, USAF 1955-59, and did not recommend it, although it did get him out of poverty as the eldest of a large family after his father died young. Even during “peacetime” he came close to death at least twice, and it’s no small sacrifice that the volunteers and draftees make, even given the benefits (among the things a certain malignant narcissist career criminal clearly doesn’t give an iota of a damn about, as he holds all of them in contempt much as he does nearly everyone else).

May this be a good day for all veterans and those close to them.

The obvious question is how blatant the attempt of setting up a coup with friendly generals/admirals is. The clown clearly hopes for dictatorship for life, all 15 months of it.

I take it the TSA allowed Diane to return from New York yesterday. Hope they had fun.

My father enlisted at 17 after Pearl Harbor, and spent most of four years in England keeping Omar Bradley and others in the air. My favorite picture from then is of him, very drunk, in full highland regalia on leave in Edinburgh.

Jeff, Diane and Carol were supposed to leave JFK at 2:15 P.M. They arrived in Buffalo at 12:16 A.M.! Plenty of staffing problems, a mechanical problem forced them back to their Gate and deplane. Then there was a Medical Emergency as one of the passages collapsed. I spent 8 hours at the Buffalo Airport because the Jet Blue people kept changing the arrival time. What a nightmare! Like you, I don’t want to fly anymore!

My father spent his post-USAF primary career in the FAA (and my parents met while both in the FAA in Alaska), His anger driven by the attempts to gut the agency under Reagan enervated him enough…he would be even less temperate about the current incumbent’s ham-handedness.

“A medical emergency when one of the passengers collapsed.”

Did either Diane or Carol manage to get a picture of RGK Jr. fleeing the scene?

Jerry, the state of JFK Airport was chaotic. Diane and Carol arrived in Buffalo and were very happy to see me. I brought them home and both of them fell asleep as soon as they closed their eyes! My CPAP machine told me this morning that I got 7 hours of sleep last night–3 hours less than Normal. So I’m dragging around today… Tomorrow, we drive Carol to Erie, PA so her son can take her back home in North Canton, Ohio.

Or, George, an excellent sign. And we’ll see if Drumpf can stay awake long enough to take his revenge on Commanders and Lions fans. I was happier about football fans en masse than I usually would be.

The men in my family have served in all the branches except the Air Force and the Coast Guard.
A special shout-out to them, especially nephews Patrick and Matthew who served in Bosnia and Iraq respectively.
    And I can’t leave out Cap’n Bob.
Thank you all for your service. My heart and prayers are always with you.

Well, I’m glad the pissers and moaners had a chance to make inappropriate comments under the guise of thanking the veterans!

Far less inappropriate than those that regularly emerge from the current incumbent “commander-in-chief” and too many of his puppets. But I can hope you had a good Veterans Day, nonetheless.
