X-MEN: APOCALYPSE in 3D

xmenapocalypseimax-1
The first mutant on Earth, En Sabah Nur (aka, Apocalypse, played by Isaac Oscar), gets buried thousands of years ago but wakes up in the 1980s and all hell breaks loose. Apocalypse decides the world needs to be “cleansed” and recruits Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), and Angel (Ben Hardy) to help him destroy civilization. James McAvoy returns as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence returns as Mystique (and doesn’t have enough to do in this movie). My favorite character in this movie is Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, steals every scene he’s in with his fabulous super-speed. I love the speed effects in this movie! There’s plenty of incredible battles and catastrophic disasters. Great Summer popcorn movie! GRADE: B+

I saw Angry Birds in 3D with my granddaughter on Thursday! I needed to lie down afterwards until my eyes felt normal again! The kid crashed completely, which is unheard of!

Sergio, there’s a lot going on in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. I agree that DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is a better movie, but APOCALYPSE has its charms. The Quicksilver scenes completely blew me away!

George, my children liked this movie a lot but I’m in two minds whether to watch it in the theatre or buy a DVD or wait for it on cable. I’m sore I missed out on “Captain America: Civil War.”

Prashant, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR was better than X-MEN: APOCALYPSE but both movies entertained me. For these big super-hero movies, I prefer the Big Screen.

I agree on Quicksilver, but I prefer Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Hugh Jackman to their “younger” personae.

Movies like this were definitely made to be seen on the big screen.

I agree about these movies needing to be seen on the big screen, but I just don’t always get there. I saw McAvoy and Lawrence on the Graham Norton show, and they have so much fun there, it really increases the appeal for the film. I know you don’t watch a lot of TV, but I’d make an exception and try the GN show. It is my favorite show on TV. Just wish I could get all past seasons on DVD!!!!

I wouldn’t rush out to see Angry Birds! It was okay, and the animation was fine, but the plot will remind you of three other movies!
