YOU KNOW YOU’RE FROM BUFFALO IF… By Adam Zyglis

Adam Zyglis, who grew up in Western New York, is a talented political cartoonist (checkout his political cartoon below). However, the grind of drawing political cartoons led Zyglis to writing a book celebrating Buffalo, its people, and the quirky lifestyle of this unique area.

Many of Zyglis’s cartoons in You Know You’re From Buffalo If… concern the Buffalo sports teams: the Bills and the Sabres. But, Zyglis isn’t shy about celebrating the legendary snowfalls that Buffalo is known for.

Adam Zyglis is a Pulitzer Prize winner and his cartoons are syndicated internationally. I appreciate that Zyglis took the time and effort to produce this love letter to Western NY. GRADE: A

I like his style and especially like the Bills-Patriots one. I meant to mention that we’ve seen several transplanted Floridians down here with Bills logos where the front license plate would go in a normal state (like New York) that requires two (unlike Florida), as well as a couple of guys with Bills’ caps who might be transplants or snowbirds like us.

Jerry, you are so right! I don’t know what I would have done without Big Orange during the latest snowstorm. We still have a couple of feet of snow on the ground and the temps are supposed to stay under 32 degrees all next week!

    Great cartoons!
That comparison between Albert and Donald (both have Southern German roots …) is really great!
I think we passed Buffalo on our way back from Niagara Falls to NYC, still remember driving along a river with lots of ice in it, was that the Niagara river maybe?

Wolf, yes, that icy waterway was the Niagara River. With temperatures in the single digits right now, the ice is thickening every day! We won’t see 32 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 days!

Christine Baranski has been chat-showing in support of THE GILDED AGE, noting that her career has cast her most often as a brittle NYC creature, which in reality she remains as she was raised a Buffaloan through and through.

Also that Juilliard waitlisted her matriculation as an acting student because she had a sibilant S. Yet another reason (Gillian Jacobs has provided others) to never consider Juilliard’s drama program something to aspire to.
