I’ve been a fan of Mayer Hawthorne’s music since his first music CD, A Strange Arrangement (2010). You can read that review here. Mayer Hawthorne comes from Ann Arbor, Michigan and grew up listening to Motown music. Hawthorne offers some great “Blue-Eyed Soul” songs on his new CD, Man About Town. Hall & Oates are playing a concert in Syracuse (about 3 hours away) on June 25. And Mayer Hawthorne is their opening act! I’m going to try to get some tickets so we might be travelling to mid-New York State to hear our favorite “Blue-Eyed Soul” performers. If you enjoy this kind of music, you’ll love Man About Town. You’ll hear some of Hawthorne’s music in the On Point interview I’ve included here. Worth a listen! GRADE: A-

Don’t know him at all, though apparently you did a previous review that slipped my mind. We have seen Hall & Oates in concert at Jones Beach. They put on a good show.
Jeff, I’ve seen Hall & Oates in concert twice. And I own most of their CDs. The Syracuse concert is tempting me. I missed the Toronto concert.
I’ve never heard of him. Hope you can get to the concert. I had a friend who lived in Baldwinsville and I visited there many times in the 70’s and 80’s. I remember a big book warehouse there. Got some amazing deals, and was allowed in the store room to find some real treasures. Do you remember that?
Maggie, I never made it to Baldwinville but I remember you scoring big with that book warehouse.
So a 6 hour round trip? That seems like a long drive for a concert. Hope it’s great.
maybe stay overnight and do something fun in syracuse?
Maggie, maybe next time.
Rick, it doesn’t look like the Syracuse trip will happen. I wish we could have made it to the Toronto concert (much closer).
Also I was going to say, something about the title makes me think of The New Yorker magazine. 😉
Rick, very clever!
