Here’s the Blu-ray set I want for Christmas which includes 15 classic Hitchock films (loaded with extras): Saboteur / Shadow Of A Doubt / Rope / Rear Window / The Trouble With Harry / The Man Who Knew Too Much / Vertigo / North By Northwest / Psycho / The Birds / Marnie / Torn Curtain / Topaz / Frenzy / Family Plot. Many of these Hitchcock flims have never been released in Blu-ray format before this set is released. I have most of these movies in DVD, but now I want them in Hi-Def.
I love the cover even. So 1950s-60s.
Is there a website where we may contribute $ to your Christmas fund?
Quite a stretch to refer to those as his masterpieces, and amusing to recognize which posters/credit sequences the typefaces were taken from, but that set is a buff’s pleasure, I’m sure.
Well, to all of them as such, I should write.
WordPress ate my comment.
Now that one they allowed.
Anyway, while I agree with Todd that a lot of these fall well short of the “masterpiece” category it’s still a nice set. You have to keep stimulating the economy after all.
I love the cover to this Hitchcock set, too, Patti. I’m hoping Santa slips in under my Christmas tree in a couple months.
No need for contributions, Dan, though that is a very generous offer. Santa will decide whether I’m been good enough this year to merit this wonderful set.
I’m yearning for this set because of the Blu-ray format, Todd. This is the first time some of these movies are available in Hi-Def.
WORDPRESS has been acting up lately, Jeff. My apologies, but I don’t have any control over WORDPRESS’s quirks. If people want the economy to improve, BUY SOMETHING!
This looks like a great collection, George. Like you, I have most of these in DVD. And I think Frenzy is an undiscovered gem.
Jackie is doing her part. She bought a set of six Rodgers & Hammerstein movie musicals yesterday.
Can’t really imagine life without having these – though a delay following reports of botched encodings and incredible negligence (the main titles were recreated apparently in the wrong font and then they mis-spelled the names of several people on the credit – don;t believe me? Click here: http://enthusiasm.org/post/31104514441) certainly slowed me down a bit.
I’m with you on FRENZY, Beth. Very underrated! I’m looking forward to seeing these films in Blu-ray!
I love Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jeff! Jackie has great taste! And she’s being very patriotic in stimulating the economy for an Obama victory!
I did my part with the new car and the damned phone. I don’t need nuthin’ more. Bah.
I would like to see The Birds and Vertigo in Blu-Ray, though.
I checked out that link and came away with the same feelings you have, Sergio. Hopefully, things will get fixed before this set is released in the U.S.
I salute your spending on the new vehicle and the damned phone, Rick! But surely there are other material things like books, CDs, DVDs, you crave…
I’ll wait for anything else until Friday to see what’s under The Birthday Tree.
That looks fantastic. I’m going to have to add that to my wishlist.
Happy Birthday in advance, Rick! Time to join AARP?
Every home should have this Hitchcock set, Carl.
I think there was a recent HBO film about Hitchcocks’s ugly relationship with Tippi Hedren. He was apparently an odd fellow.
You’re right, Drongo. Hitch was obsessed with Tippi and ruined her career. Not all geniuses are nice.
