My cousin’s husband wielded a BB gun (“You’ll shoot your eye out!”) this week to scare off woodpeckers who were trying to intimidate the hummingbirds my cousin was feeding, as well as damage their house.
They look so adorable. I live near a large canyon and we have coyotes taking early morning strolls down the middle of the street. I’ve also seen early morning skunks. Luckily I haven’t had personal contact with them.
We have deer on our cul-de-sac, too! I thought we’d be seeing a fawn or two from a doe that was here a couple of weeks ago, but she’s moved on! The big buck is still hanging out! I call him Henry! Buck Henry, get it!?
Always a good thing, unless they eat your garden or drop ticks who find you…
Ever put out a salt-lick?
Todd, no salt licks here! I try not to encourage the deer to visit our backyard, but they love it anyway!
Todd, NPR said that 80% of ticks are carrying Lime Disease. That’s why I stay in the A/C!
Unless they kill Mom, of course.

Jeff, I have a Pool buddy who uses his BB gun to shoot at rabbits that eat his vegetables in his garden.
Deer have completely run amuck here. Along with wild turkeys, fox and a variety of others. The deer come right up to you.
Patti, I was stepping out of our house to get the morning newspaper when two baby deer showed up in our front yard…bold as could be!

Maggie, like you I don’t want any contact with Wild Animals…especially deer with ticks!

Bob, Buck Henry was a funny man!
