BUFFALO BILLS VS. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Things look dire for the Buffalo Bills in Foxboro. They have five starters on the Covid-19 List so their offensive line and wide receiver corps are depleted. The Patriots are 3-point favorites. How will your favorite NFL team do today?

Oh my. The Ravens have already set records for their number of injured players this season. This game, in Cincinnati, is going to be utterly ridiculous. Our quarterback, Lamar Jackson, is still injured. Our #2 is on the Covid list. So we signed Josh Johnson. Maybe a couple of you know who Josh Johnson is, but the name didn’t ring a bell for me. Our running backs were lost for the year in training camp, so we’ve been using castoffs all season. Receiving corps is only missing a couple people — I think.

On the defensive side of the ball, we have 13 healthy players. Yes, the 11 that have to be on the field and two spares. I don’t know how many construction workers and bus drivers we’ve signed over the last couple days in an attempt to field a team. Could there be more positive Covid tests this morning? I don’t see why not.

I’m not really going to predict that we’ll lose 72-6, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I can’t believe we’ll be sending a competitive team out there.

Jeff, your analysis of the Ravens isn’t far from the state of the Covid-19 riddled Bills. A lot of rookies are going to Significant Play Time in Foxboro…and that is NOT a Good Thing. If the Bills lose to the Patriots today with their depleted team, their chances of Playoffs are dim.

Jerry, one of our guests for Christmas dinner brought us a box of pears. I love pears! So today, I’ll focus on that box and consume a few. Hope you and your family got what you wanted for Christmas!

One guess. You are correct, the Giants will lose t the Eagles in Philadelphia.

I will be rooting for the Bills today.

Jeff, Katie and Patrick stunned us with a Carrot Cake Pie. Yes, it tasted exactly like a piece of Carrot Cake but in a pie crust. Absolutely delicious!

After the Saints’ surprise 9-0 win over the Bucs last week (where neither team scored a touchdown but where the Saints, unlike the Bucs, were able to eke out three field goals), the Boys-in-Black-and-Gold are hosting the Dolphins for tomorrow night’s Monday Night Football game. Both teams are a rather dispiriting 7-7 and, as of this morning, the Saints have nine players on the covid list—including both their starting and backup QBs—I’m really not sure how the Saints plan to field a viable team.

Deb, the number NFL players on the Covid-19 List keeps increasing. The NFL can move some games around, but the time is coming when some teams won’t have enough healthy players to put on the field to play a game. What a mess!

Glad you had a good Christmas.

I’m fed up with the NFL. The terrible officiating, on display again yesterday, is ridiculous, with phantom penalties and missed actual holds, face masks, etc. I’ve never seen so many false start and no-it-wasn’t pass interference calls!

Then there is the “Covid List” stuff. These aren’t all break-through cases! The league should have simply put a “No vac, no pay, no play” rule on day 1 of the season. I’m only rooting for the team with the least Covid listed players. Since both Bills and Pats have 7 on the list, it’s a wash.

Tom is extremely peeved at the moment since he’s originally from New England! But he’s now a Bucs fan, so is happy with that win. My Texans won today, but are otherwise pretty miserable.

Angela, the Buffalo Bills needed to win that game in Foxboro to stay in the Playoff hunt. If the Bills win their next two games–against the Atlanta Falcons and the Jets–the Bills will clinch the AFC East title and guarantee at least one home Playoff game. The Texans are going to get a really, really good Draft Pick in 2022!

I predict the hapless Seahawks will have a new place kicker next year! Ghu knows how many games we lost this year because of missed (easy) field goals and extra points! On the up side, the Bills won and the Stealers lost!
