DIANE GOES ROGUE!

In our patriotic quest to save the U. S. economy, Diane and I went to our local Nissan dealership and took a Rogue for a test-drive. The Rogue is built on the same platform as the Altima so it handles like a car. Diane wanted heated seats so we had to buy the SL package which includes:
18″ 5-split-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels
High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights with manual headlight levelizer
Automatic on/off headlights
Fog lights
Leather-appointed seats
Leather-wrapped steering wheel
Heated front seats
Heated outside mirrors with timer
Digital Bose® audio system with AM/FM/CD
Eight speakers, including Nd® Richbass® woofer
Nissan Navigation System with 5″ color touch-screen monitor
XM® NavTraffic® [*]
Power sliding glass moonroof with sliding shade and one-touch open/close and tilt feature
Auto-dimming rearview mirror
Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)
All that just to get heated seats! Any way, we traded in our 2004 Nissan Quest (they gave us $6100) and because the Rogue comes with all the electronic goodies we bought the Extended Warranty (good for seven years). Diane allowed me to pick the color: silver!

I’m not enamored of cars, Patti, but Diane picked out a pretty sharp vehicle. It may be your limo when you visit this summer.

    Nice. Mazel tov!

There are a LOT of Nissans in our neighborhood and the Rogue looks great. Silver is definitely the most popular color of the moment.

Sounds like she got all the bells and whistles.

    What’s the mileage.

Diane and I almost always go with gold or silver in our vehicle colors, Jeff. They tend not to show the dirt. Nissan claims we’ll get 28 mpg on the highway and 24 in the city. The Rogue’s “data center” keeps track of the vehicle mileage automatically so we’ll see how it does in Western New York conditions. There’s more electronics on the Rogue than any other vehicle we’ve owned! Bluetooth!

Things must be looking up economically, Jeff. The Nissan showroom was busy. Diane’s cousin, who’s part-owner of the Nissan dealership, told us they can’t keep the Rogues on the lot. It’s a hot commodity right now!

Ours is “champagne gold” – more subtle than some of the harsher golds that almost hurt your eyes.

Diane thinks I’ll be able to “step-up” to get into the Rogue easier than doing the limbo in getting into the Altima, Rick. I’ll be having total knee replacement surgery in a couple of months so Diane was concerned about getting me in and out of a vehicle in order to go to rehab. It is easier for me to “step-up.”

The Rogue has a dazzling number of electronic goodies, Rick. I’m going to have to sit down with the Owner’s manual this weekend and watch the accompanying DVD. Touch screen navigation, a camera for going in reverse, Bluetooth, an iPod docking station, XM radio, and more!

Most of the cross-overs have the same style, Bob. They all look alike. From just a couple days of driving the Rogue around I can say the seats are comfortable. There’s plenty of leg room and head room. It’s quiet.

Jackie wants to know if it has all-wheel drive.

We saw a lot of Rogues (and a few Muranos, which are larger) on the road today.

There is a certain sameness in the styles, Bob. Our Rogue looks a lot like the other crossovers: Hyundai Tucson, Chevy Equinox, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, etc.

She figured you needed AWD up there and I figured with all the goodies you got it must be in there.
