DOCTOR WHO: SEASON 10 PREMIERE [BBC AMERICA]

For those of you who wanted to watch DOCTOR WHO but felt that you were going to be confused by a series that’s been going for decades, here is your chance to get up to speed. Steven Moffat, the show runner, says the premiere of Doctor Who, Season 10 has been carefully designed so that newcomers to DOCTOR WHO will be oriented to the series and will feel comfortable with the characters. Peter Capaldi returns as the Doctor and he has a new companion, “Bill” Potts (played by Pearl Mackie). Some theaters are bringing this episode to the Big Screen. Check Fathom Events online for details. This looks like a very good season of DOCTOR WHO based on the trailers I’ve seen.

I still think of Capaldi in other roles rather than the Doctor. And this is his last season. Bring back Karen Gillan!

Season 10??? I used to watch “Dr. Who” in England in the 1960s–when it was definitely considered a “children’s program” and the Daleks were obviously made with egg cartons. I’ve got to think we’re well beyond ten seasons by now.

Deb, you’re right. DOCTOR WHO is one of the longest running series in television history. But there were a few interruptions during that time span. Since the 21 Century started, a new numbering system was introduced. So now we’re about to start SEASON 10. Should be great!

I’ve watched a few, and have wished they’d somehow rerun the early ones. David Tennant has been my favorite Dr., but then he was my “first”

Maggie, Tom Baker was my first Doctor. I loved those wonderful episodes that played on my local PBS station back in the Seventies. I like David Tennant, but I think Matt Smith was better. Capaldi has grown on me.

Just an aside, I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of De-lovely, and saw John Barrowman, who I vaguely remember from a Dr. Who episode singing on the soundtrack, and saw on IMDB he was a performer in the movie, as was Kevin Kidd, who I also found was in Trainspotting (I”ve taped it and watched the first few minutes after seeing the returning cast on the Graham Norton show

Trainspotting is in its 3rd week here. Been skipping around to different theaters. I’ve been meaning to see it. The first is one of my favorite movies.
    Never got into Dr Who.
