DOWNTON ABBEY: SEASONS 1-3 BOX SET [Blu-ray]

AMAZON made me a deal I couldn’t refuse: the first three season of Downton Abbey in a Blu-ray box set for $25. I’ve seen this box set at BEST BUY and TARGET for $50. I couldn’t resist this offer even though I suspect AMAZON is using some sort of algorithm to get me to buy this. All I know is that $25 for three seasons of Downton Abbey is a bargain!

George, we loved this series and watched all the seasons back to back on one of the cable television channels, which is going to telecast it again. We’re looking forward to the season’s finale, next year I think.

I could never get into it. It just seemed like a bad retread of “Upstairs, Downstairs.” After a few episodes, I must admit I gave up. The new “Poldark” on the other hand….

…is no Robin Ellis, or Angharad Rees (but who is?).

I like DOWNTON ABBEY but I’m not likely to watch the series again. We do have the complete (original, of course) UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS, which includes the “missing” black & white episodes they didn’t show here the first time around.

    I miss Alastair Cooke.

Now the “new” UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS was appallingly awful. We forced ourselves to watch season 1 but that was it.

Did you see that Robin Ellis has a small role in the new Poldark? My girls–who, of course, have no memory if the original series–like watching Poldark to see how many times the writers will contrive to get him to take his shirt off per episode!

Deb, the old “take his shirt off” trick never fails. Paul Rudd even takes his shirt off in ANT-MAN. I admit, he looked quite fit.

I suspect AMAZON calls their Top Secret algorithm the “Kelley Lure”. Even now, Chinese hackers are trying to steal it…

True. I can see them at Amazon sitting around, saying, “How can we move this stuff? Wait, I know. North Tonawanda!”

Jeff, if the price is right…I’ll buy! Katie and Diane are in Canada today at the Shaw Festival to see PETER AND THE STAR CATCHER. I’ll be taking Patrick to the airport in an hour. He’s flying to NYC for a computer conference.

I don’t consider buying DVDs (or CDs) unless I’m pretty sure I’ll watch (listen to) them more then twice. Otherwise, that’s what Netflix is for. The best price I can see on Amazon is $47.88. Obviously, as sussed by Mr. Scott, you receive preferential treatment.

    I miss Alastair Cooke too.

Rick, I’m targeted by AMAZON on a regular basis. Most times, I ignore their offers, but this time I was overcome by the urge to own DOWNTON ABBEY. Netflix is okay, but I like to hold the Blu-ray discs.

Jackie agrees with Rick but I’m with George – I’d rather have it on hand for when the urge to watch it strikes.
