DUKE VS. WISCONSIN

duke vs. wisconsin
The last time Wisconsin has been in this position–playing for the Men’s Basketball NCAA Championship–it was 1941. I picked Kentucky to go all the way, but Wisconsin pulled the upset. The WALL STREET JOURNAL about a month ago, had a story with the headline DON’T PICK KENTUCKY about the statistical unlikelihood of Kentucky going 40-0. They were right. So tonight, I’m picking my alma mater, Wisconsin, to defeat the talented Duke team. Who do you think will win tonight?

Duke has already beaten Wisconsin, but as mentioned, both teams are different now, more mature, more settled. It should be a good game. Naturally I prefer Duke would win, but it’s by no means certain.

Combined, with Okafor, the two Joneses, Winslow and Cook, I, believe Duke and their new acquired AWESOME defense should prove that DUKE BLUE DEVILS are the better team. However, anything can happen. Bottom line, the BEST team will win.
Additionally, why all these DUKE haters??????? Grow up, they are an very accomplished team and winners. Coach K, will go down in NCAA history as the BEST COACH ever, yes, even better than Calapari , Izzo, and WILLIAMS, (ha, ya think)
Enjoy, the game, as I, shall…….DUKE, DUKE, DUKE!!!!!!!

Gayle, I’m not sure the best team will win tonight. With the “one-and-done” format of the tournament, if a team has an “off” night or gets a Bad Call they’re out. If Kentucky played Wisconsin in a best of seven series (like the NBA Playoffs) Kentucky would win.

I’m with Bill – not really into basketball but I’d like to see Wisconsin win.

Opening day and then the Badger game … I wonder how many fans will go the distance.

Beth, there’s plenty of sports action going on today. If the Buffalo Sabres *our NHL hockey team) lose to Carolina tonight, they’ll clinch the 30th place in the Draft. That translates into a good shot at winning the NHL Draft Lottery. The prize is possible-Superstar, Conner McDavid.

Unfortunately the team I most wanted to see play tonight is not in town: Arizona. I have no preference for either team, it will be two big teams muscling it out under the boards, not the most exciting style of play. Since there’s no real underdog (both #1 seeds) I just will watch and hope there are no injuries and the officials get it right

NOTE – in her comment up above, Gayle Smith left out the best coach of them all: John Wooden. Others may wind up with more wins, more championships and other numbers, but Wooden did it when it was more difficult to win year after year.

I’m picking the Mariners even though King Felix didn’t wow ’em at the end of spring training. During the commercials I’ll have a look at the basketball game and hope Wisconsin pulls the upset, if only to give Beth bragging rights.

Bob, I’m not a baseball fan but ESPN Radio “experts” say that this is the year for “small” city teams to excel. I’m with you on Beth and bragging rights!

Dang, I didn’t realize it was an afternoon game and I missed it. But we won and that’s what counts.
