Good list. The Padgett was excellent. I have the Chast book on hold. Of course, Art’s McGinnis book was a classic. I’ll have to check the Lodge. I haven’t read him in years.

I loved the Chast book–anyone who has (or had) aging parents can relate; and I love how she sprinkles real photographs of herself and her parents throughout the book so you can see she always was a bit of a square peg in her family.

Prashant, I really enjoyed the essays in THIS IS THE STORY OF A HAPPY MARRIAGE and LIVES IN WRITING. Although very different books, both Patchett and Lodge write engaging essays.

Nice list, George. I read the Patchett and Chast (thought the latter pretty depressing). I just (finally!!) got the McGinnis book a couple of days ago, haven’t even had a chance to look at it yet.
