GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY [Blu-ray]

Diane wants to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but she hadn’t seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy. I just happened to have the Blu-ray version of Guardians of the Galaxy and so we watched it over the weekend. Based on a MARVEL comic book series, Guardians of the Galaxy centers around Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) who was “taken” from Earth when he was a child. Quill grows up among a group of interstellar thieves called The Ravagers. Quill finds a rare artifact and suddenly he’s targeted by a green assassin named Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and a pair of adventurers–a cybernetic animal call Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and a walking tree named Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). In prison, the group meets Drax (Dave Bautista) who has vowed vengeance on Bad Guy Ronan (Lee Pace). I really liked the cybernetic warrior, Nebula, played by my favorite Doctor Who Companion, Karen Gillan. Plenty of action and humor! Now Diane’s really looking forward to Guardinans of the Galaxy 2!. Sergio, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 is the most anticipated movie of the Summer! The early reviews have been strong.

For some reason it seems to have been released a week earlier in Europe that in the US – but my friend got ill, so will now wait until Friday, so I may yet have time to re-watch the first one!

Enjoyed it more than most Marvel movies. I think it was the humor. Need to watch it again before I see the 2nd one. It plays on cable a lot.

I loved that “just happened to have” the Blu-Ray line.

We’re planning on rewatching it before the new one too. You didn’t mention the great use of 60s and 70s music on the soundtrack, which enhanced the enjoyment.

Can’t wait for the new one!

Jeff, you are so right about the 70s music in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. I’m sure we’ll hear more in this sequel!

I loved the first one, and will definitely see this one in a theater.

I’m with Jeff about the music. One of my favorite scenes is at the beginning with Star Lord (Pratt) dancing to come and get your love.

I saw the cast on Kimmel and they seem to have as much fun on the film as we do watching it.

I saw Pratt on Graham Norton describing how he got his head shots done when he was starting out, and it was hysterical. He seems like a down to earth guy. He’s come down to Camp Pendleton to preview movies for marines and their families.

Maggie, I saw Chris Pratt on KELLY & RYAN where he talked about getting knocked senseless during the filming of one of the action scenes. He said his head was spinning!

I think we watched this on TV but somehow couldn’t connect with it, space opera is not our thing!

Haven’t seen any sf film in the last years which I really enjoyed. Though my wife loves GOT, she’s already watched the latest series while I was in Germany, helped her along.

Maggie and Joe turned me on to Guardians of the Galaxy. I too just “happen to have” the Blu-ray, although FX runs it A LOT.

I also have the soundtracks (the one for Vol. 2 arrived Tuesday) so I love the music as well.

We won’t be seeing the new one until after all the kids have cleared out – maybe in a week. I’m really looking forward to it.
