    Wow!
    Heartfelt congratulations!
I have a friend who’d joke in this situation:
And how many more years do you have to do/stay together? 🙂 🙂
I hope for many, many more – such a nice couple …

Wolf, a few years ago when I was still teaching at the College, I mentioned to my students that my wife and I were going to be celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary. After the class ended, a student came up to me and said, “Dr. Kelley, I don’t know any one who’s been married for 35 years. None in my family, none of my friends, no one. Only you and your wife.”

Deb, I’ll be taking Diane to a swanky restaurant. Unfortunately, the weather is not cooperating because we’re supposed to get torrential rains this afternoon and evening. Congratulations on LSU’s big win! I thought LSU might be facing Ohio St. but now it’s going to be Clemson. Go, LSU!

We’re still hungover (metaphorically, not literally) from that epic beat down LSU put on Oklahoma. We then watched the lead go back and forth in the Clemson-Ohio State game…but Clemson managed to win, so it will be Tigers versus Tigers for the National Championship in New Orleans on January 13. That is also the first day of classes for Spring semester at LSU. I don’t see too many students showing up until Wednesday (the 15th).

Deb, LSU dominated Oklahoma. I’m sure Ohio St. fans are bitter about the missed chances to win the game against Clemson. When the game was 13-0 I thought Ohio St. had the game in the bag. Wrong!

It’s funny, just yesterday I was thinking, isn’t the Kelley Anniversary coming up soon? Congratulations! We know a bunch of people with long marriages (we have #50 coming next October!) but in this day and age, that is a major accomplishment.

I guess the Bills are set for the Playoffs so you don’t need to worry about the game with the Jets today. The Giants finish their miserable season in Philadelphia this afternoon. All the Eagles have to do is win to win the division and seal Jason Garrett’s fate as Cowboys coach (though that is probably a done deal).

Jeff, thanks for the congratulations! I’ll be sending good vibes to you and Jackie on your 50th Anniversary, too! The NY Jets vs. Buffalo Bills game today is meaningless. Win or lose, the Bills have locked up the 5th spot in the AFC Playoffs. Head Coach Sean McDermott is receiving some criticism because he’s going to play his starters (hopefully, not long) because of the risk of injury.

And yet, I know many people who have been married around the 50 year mark.
Congrats to two delightful people who deserve another 50.

Patti, thanks! I think it’s a generational thing with marriage longevity. Many millennials don’t bother with marriage anymore, they just live together.

Congratulations to Diane who has put up with you for all those years, and to you for finding such a wonderful bride!

And, dang it, I’ll be humming “Spider-George, Spider-George, radioactive Spider-George” all day!

Compared to you guys, John and I are pikers—we’ll make 31 years married in February. I will say that, although I do have relatives and friends who have been married and divorced multiple times, amongst my closest friends (all born late-1950s/early-1960s), we’ve all been married thirty or more years. The exception is a friend who has only been married for ten years, but she and her man were together many years before they made it official. I have two friends (both a little younger than me) who have been widowed (one lost her husband to a heart attack, the other to lung disease), but I’m confident they would both still be married to their spouses if they had lived.

I have a Kiddush cup I inherited when my parents died. It was presented to my great grandparents – my father’s mother’s parents, both of whom died before I was born – on their Fiftieth Anniversary. They added my grandparents’ names on their Fiftieth in April of 1970, and my parents on their Fiftieth in January of 1997. I’m not sure if there is room for our names next October. One of my favorite pictures was of me and my brother, aged about five and four (or possibly a little younger) with the great grandparents I do remember – my mother’s mother’s parents, who lived across the street from us when we moved to Brooklyn – at their Fiftieth in the early 1950s.
My great grandmother died around the time of my bar mitzvah and my great grandfather just before our wedding.

My parents made it to their Sixty-Fifth.

Deb, same here. We have several friends who have been married just as long as we have and couple who have been married longer. You and John have many more fun years to look forward to!

Congratulations to you both! I’m sure you’ll enjoy your dinner out.

Obviously, Oklahoma wasn’t as good as the Bowl Panel thought. Alabama would have done better, but I think LSU would have won.

Today? I expect the Seahawks to have a tough time of it against the 49ers. They moved it to the late game, unfortunately.

    Congratulations, Guys!
You’re still one of the nicest couples I know. And I like both of you – which is even rarer.

George – Congrats to you and Dianne. Sandi and I celebrated 40 on the same day and had a great day. Good luck to you both in 2020.

Scott, congratulations to you and Sandi! I hope 2020 is a great year for all of us. But 2019 was great, too, because we got to see you in Dallas at BOUCHERCON #50!
