And you don’t look a day over 83, George.

I hope your day is filled with fun, friviolity, food, festivities, and friends.

Celebrate responsibly. Or not. It’s your call.

Jerry, thanks for the Good Advice! Our usual Birthday routine is to go to a movie and then enjoy dinner at a swanky restaurant. I’ll try not to drink too much sangria!

Happy Birthday. 69 is not that bad, but I’m not looking forward to that next milestone.

    I love the mouse pad.

Jeff, I’m looking forward to 70 because I’ll start collecting Social Security. An extra $3,000 a month will come in handy!

Btw, Georgeโ€”you are exactly 49 years and one day older than the twins. They will be 20 tomorrow and John and I will no longer have any teenage children!

Deb, congratulations to you and John on raising such great children! And best Happy Birthday wishes to the twins! My 20s were great!

Deb, thanks for your kind thoughts! I usually get some STARBUCKS gift cards from family and friends. My sister usually bakes a chocolate cake with a fluffy icing that I love!

George, Happy Birthday to you, young man!
And all the best for the next 40 years – especially health. Since I’m much older than you and most here (turned 75 this year) I know what I’m talking about …
Have fun with the family and take care – not more than half a gallon of Sangria! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wolf, I’ve become a fan of sangria since Bruce Taylor introduced me to it at the Wendt Vineyard Restaurant in Livermore, California. None of the sangrias I’ve tried since then have matched that lofty standard! Health is a mix of genetics and environment and luck.

HB & all that! Thanks to Wolf for letting me know I’m not the Most Senior specimen hanging around here. You’re welcome to come back out here and slurp sangria anytime. By the way it’s Wente, not Wendt (that’s the George who played Norm on Cheers).

Art, I’m sure Diane is planning a trip to California to visit Patrick and you. Our family used to buy its milk from the local Wendt Dairy so my 69-year-old mind switched Wente with Wendt. The side-effects of aging…

Happy birthday, my friend, I hope you have a wonderful day. I remember way back when I was turning your new age. And Art, at 73, I’m only a year behind Wolf.

George! Happy Birthday, man! It’s been so great to get to know you the past few years and I hope we keep that going for many more. Do something good this weekend and don’t act your age.

Rick, I grew up on 69th Street in Niagara Falls, NY. People would steal our street sign all the time! I’m looking forward to your next book!

        Totally OT – or not?
In Bavaria and Austria many village/city names end in “ing” – the most famous sign which gets photograped a lot is Fucking.
It can’t be stolen any more because it has an extra strong base now … ๐Ÿ™‚
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fucking,_Austria
In July 2009, it was announced that the village would install CCTV cameras in an attempt to deter summertime tourists from filming themselves having sexual intercourse in front of the Fucking signs.

What the wiki entry doesn’t say: It’s near Braunau where AH was born.

Wolf, why people would steal signage like our 69th STREET sign baffled me as a kid. I’m not sure CCTV cameras would have deterred the thieves.

        Same here …
And then of course 42 and 666 – though on the ‘net I usually add my lucky number 7777 to my nick, wolf is too common, almost like george … ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you’ve been having a terrific birthday, George! And I also hope you got a ton of new books. Although the mouse pad really *is* terrific. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you, Dr. Kelley, and have a wonderful summer as well! I gave Patrick your message, and he said to say “hi.”

I’m glad that you are enjoying your time away from ECC! I know first hand how miserable grading can be, so I can understand why you would be happy to not have to do that anymore.

Lauren, I enjoyed teaching good students like you. What I didn’t like was the commute in and out of the City (especially on icy roads!), the bureaucratic rules and policies, and the meetings where nothing was accomplished.

Scott, thanks for the Birthday wishes! Not only will I be in Dallas for BOUCHERCON 50, I’ve been invited to be a moderator for a panel.
