Happy New Year to you and Diane (and the kids).

At least that awful year ended on an up note for Bills fans with the first playoff berth in 17 years!

Jeff, some Bills fans are still out celebrating the surprise Playoff gift from the Cincinnati Bengals. Without the Bengals win over the Ravens, the Bills would be cleaning out their lockers this week.

    Happy New Year to everyone.

I’m glad the Bills made the playoffs, and was sorry to see the chargers win.

I realize that as I’m bundled up this morning I have it very easy now, weather wise. We’ve had very little rain, and will suffer for that later in the year. I’d probably be an icicle if I lived where many of you do.

Maggie, it was 7 degrees when I got up this morning, and will only reach the mid-teens today (though more locally, my phone tells me it is 12 here). They are gathering on the boardwalk in Coney Island at noon for the 1 p.m. Polar Bear Plunge in the Atlantic. Most recent years, Club members have complained that it was “too warm” for it – last year it was 48 on New Year’s Day – but this year it will be something to see. I’m curious as to how big a group they get, The water temperature should be just above 32.

      You have to be nuts!

Don’t talk about nuts here! 🙂
The new year anyway promises to be “interesting” (following the old Chinese proverb/fortune cookie).
They do the same kind of swimming in the Baltic sea, in Finland e g, sometimes even frollocking naked in the snow – but afterwards they recover in the sauna, maybe with some vodka …

Dan, the Stock Market will go up (so buy some MRO and make some money!), more powerful men will fall because of sexual harassment charges, and Trump will Tweet..a lot!

I predict…Trump will turn over a new leaf and go classy…NOT!

He already tweeted out his New Year’s Eve message attacking “the very dishonest Fake News Media” last night.

    Plus ca change…

Jeff, will you take the car to Florida?
I have fond memories of Florida after Xmas – though there were much more tourists we always found a room somehow.
I still remember coming to Ft Augustine Beach once in March, had found an apartment, and the neighbours all gathered and watching us arrive and unpack …
Then one couple came over and told us that they were so happy – they had had that apartment full of noisy students before us on their spring break and were happy to see us older people! 🙂
They immediately asked us to come with them to a bar – it was happy hour with half price drinks and free food. We had interesting talks with them and they gave us tips on what to see, really nice people, snowbirds I think.

Happy New Year everyone! Today I will spend most of my time taking down and packing up our Christmas decorations. As much as I love decorating for Christmas, the takedown is always a slog. On the plus side, school doesn’t start again until Wednesday, so I’ll have a “recovery day” tomorrow.

Deb, congratulations on the Saints marching into the Playoffs again! Diane takes down the Christmas stuff over Martin Luther King Weekend. I help her with the dismantling and storing of the Christmas tree. We are going to host a Bills Playoff Party on January 7 at 1 P.M. You and John are invited!
