JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO

Keanu Reeves returns to play a “retired” contract killer, John Wick, who keeps getting pulled back into his old profession. In John Wick (2014), Wick was grieving the death of his wife when the Russian mafia kill his dog and steal his car (why they didn’t just kill John Wick remains inexplicable). John Wick gathers some weapons and starts killing dozens of members of the Russian mob. In John Wick: Chapter Two, a blood contract that Wick made years ago is enforced on him. The target is in Rome and John Wick slays an impressive number of bodyguards. Much of the action is fast and furious (to coin a phrase) so you don’t want to think too much about the plot aspects. But if you’re looking for a stylish action movie, John Wick: Chapter Two will get your heart pumping. GRADE: B

Stealing his car was unforgivable, but killing his dog was a death sentence not even the head of the Russian Mafia could stop.

We’re looking forward to the sequel.

Loved it. It’s the same movie as the first one, so what could go wrong? I’m thinking #3 will be more of the same.

Except for a dog dying, I liked the first one and was glad the dog slayers got what they deserved. I’m looking forward to this. Our paper ran a very positive review of it (from another source)

Honestly, George, I’ll prefer to skip them both.

Also, we just finished watching the Grammy Awards, and there was little to like. Bruno Mars doing the Prince tribute, Lady Ga Ga and Metallica, the most lively bit, and that’s about that’s memorable just 15 minutes later.

I might consider seeing the new Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. Oh, and the Girl Scout Cookies came, so we have Thin Mints in the house. Once a year…

I have the grammys on tape, haven’t watched yet. I watched the BAFTAs hosted by Stephen Fry who has a great line, when speaking about Meryl Streep: unquestionably one of the greatest actresses of our time, only a blithering idiot would think otherwise.

OK, we saw it this afternoon and I’m with Bill. I’m ready for Chapter 3 now! The ending pretty much made it clear that there will be another one.

I particularly loved how every other passing person in New York – even the ones begging in the subway – appeared to be a freelance assassin. I also enjoyed Ian McShane and the appearance of Laurence Fishburne.
