Now that’s something I’ve never seen in Brooklyn. Rats, yes, even a possum on the street when Jackie was rehabbing her knee, and they’ve had coyotes in Manhattan. But I don’t think we’ve had deer wandering the city, at least not in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Just checked – deer invade Staten Island.

It is the least populated and most rural borough.

We’re not quite rural enough here to see deer, but if I go a little further north into Louisiana or Mississippi “country,” I’m bound to see them (and pray they don’t decide to leap across the road as I’m driving by). Squirrels, possums, raccoons I take in course. We even saw a fox on the golf course one morning! But no deer here.

Deb, about 10 years ago my daughter’s car was hit by a deer who jumped into the road. The car was totaled, but my daughter was uninjured. There are plenty of deer-vehicle accidents around here.

I’ve never seen a deer in Alvin, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one showed up. We have plenty of raccoons, squirrels, and possums. I’m expecting a feral hog any day now.

I’m sure it comes as no surprise that we have them here, though none closer than a block or so, so the garden has not been in danger. Mostly, we have squirrels and the occasion; coyote. We haven’t seen a possum or raccoon. Oh, and moles, damn the things.

Rick, in addition to the deer (and squires, raccoon, bunnies, foxes, and skunks) we also have a wood-chuck who lives under that shed in the picture.

We have them all around here. Looks like they are hungry and coming in for food. Boy, is it big!

Patti, usually the deer around here travel in herds. We usually have 5 or 6 deer dropping (literally!) by every day. And, yes, they are big!

They are common in our cul-de-sac, but I don’t see them daily. Two days ago a big buck was in the middle of the loop when I was taking Molly out and she scared it away. Coyotes were common at the Air Force base where I worked, and I’ve seen porcupines out there, too.

Bob, I’ve heard reports of coyote sightings but they haven’t shown up in our back yard yet. Porcupines aren’t common around here, either.
