POLITICAL ANIMALS on USA

I’m a huge Sigourney Weaver fan so you know I’ll be watching this West Wing clone tonight at 10 P.M. on the USA Network. Sigourney Weaver plays Elaine Barrish, a divorced former First Lady and the now current Secretary of State (sound familiar?). USA only ordered six episodes so if you blink, you’ll miss this mini-series. Hopefully, the ratings will be strong so Political Animals will be renewed. Other than Longmire and The Closer, there isn’t much on to watch this summer until the Olympics begins.

Too much of what little there is is on at ten Sunday nights. We like SUITS if you haven’t tried that. And BREAKING BAD starts tonight too.

Don’t care for SUITS or most of the other newer USA shows – WHITE COLLAR, FAIRLY LEGAL, COMMON LAW. I’m still upset they canceled IN PLAIN SIGHT.

We record 5 shows on Sunday (counting this new one), 3 on Monday, 1 on Tuesday, 2 on Wednesday and one on Thursday. That’s not to say I love them all (or even watch them – some are just for Jackie, like ARMY WIVES and DALLAS) – but it’s not much different than the “regular” season as far as we’re concerned.

I’m only watching LONGMIRE, THE CLOSER, and STORAGE WARS (new episodes), Jeff. Diane DVRs several programs and watches them throughout the week when nothing is on.

    Sunday at 9 or 10:

    Longmire
    The Glades
    Falling Skies
    Army Wives
    Political Animals

Some would add True Blood but we no longer watch it. It’s a good thing cable channels have multiple showings so I can record these between 9 pm and 2 am.

I have abandoned FALLING SKIES, Jeff. I wanted to like it, but the soap opera aspects are too boring. There’s not enough action. Aliens with that kind of fire-power and technology should be able to wipe out the resisting humans in the blink of an eye.

You forgot Mystery! at 9 on our local PBS station – they are doing the new Lewis series. Though if it continues to be as bad as the first one I may give up on it. I gave up on Falling Skies after watching the first six episodes on a press pre-screening DVD someone loaned me. I have given up on Royal Pains and Common Law is just awful.

FALLING SKIES is a complete disappointment, Stan. The cast is decent, but the writing comes straight from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.
