RECOMMENDATION #19: PHILLY CREAM CHEESE JALAPENO

Philly cream cheese jalapeno comes recommended by several of my friends who enjoy hot and spicy foods. Usually, I buy the Whipped Philadelphia Cream Cheese. I like the light and frothy texture. I use it as a spread instead of mayo on sandwiches. Typically, I nuke some ham slices, toast some Italian bread, spread the Whipped Philly Cream Cheese, add the ham with some pepper and I’m in food Nirvana! Obviously, I don’t use crème cheese every day (too much saturated fat), but for occasional use, it sure is tasty! The Philadelphia Crème Cheese with Jalapeno peppers will tickle your tongue. It’s not overpowering, but it delivers a nice kick. If you’re looking for something to spice up your bread and bagels, give Philly Cream Cheese Jalapeno a try!

My snack is not an every day thing, Rick. I try to minimize eating bread and foods with high saturated fat. But once in a while is okay.

Whole wheat, pumpernickel or multi-grain bagels are good for fiber. That said, this doesn’t realy appeal to me. I prefer my cream cheese with lox pieces.

It’s the contrast if flavors and textures that make it so appealing: the smooth creaminess of the cheese against the sharp hotness of the pepper. My favorite sandwich (“discovered” during a pregnancy craving many years ago) is avacado, sharp cheddar, and jalapeño peppers (Mezzetta makes a wonderful “tamed” pickled variety) on a crusty French or Italian roll. Yum! But as you say–not an everyday meal, more of an occasional treat.

Sounds good, Deb. I like avocado on anything.

Jackie likes scallion cream cheese so I suppose this isn’t that different, George. A lot of the bagel stores around here take cut up lox pieces and mix them into cream cheese, or we’ve made our own occasionally.

Sounds good, George. I’ll give it a try.

For my money, it beats the pants off the chocolate and caramel flavored Philly spreads.
