RUTH BADER GINSBURG SHUFFLES OFF TO BUFFALO

My daughter Katie idolizes Ruth Bader Ginsburg so when rumors that RBG was coming to Buffalo to speak swirled around this Summer, Katie contacted her lawyer friend, Michelle, to investigate. Michelle did better than that, she managed to score TWO tickets to the Ruth Bader Ginsburg event! The sold-out RBG extravaganza is being held today at Kleinhans Music Hall (2400 seats) which is home to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Ruth Bader Ginsburg just completed three weeks of radiation treatment for pancreatic cancer. I was surprised RBG kept this trip on her busy schedule…but she did!

When you read this, Diane and I will be driving to the Buffalo Airport to pick up Katie who is flying in from Boston. Katie and Michele will travel to the RBG event together. With the Supreme Court hanging in the balance, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s heath grows in importance. Are you a fan of RBG?

I’m just hoping her health doesn’t cause her to leave the Supreme Court. Trump’s appointments have already stacked the deck for decades to come.

Steve, you took the words right out of my mouth!

Generally I have the feeling that Trump etc are really afraid of women in politics and law – no equal rights for them!

“Hope for the best, expect the worst,” as the old saying goes. I admire RBG and pray for her to continue to be in good enough health to stay on the court, but nobody lives forever and pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly types…so, sadly, my expectations are not very high.

Hope the event loves up to expectations. I visualize a darkened stage… a restless audience… Suddenly an announcer’s voice:

    “Ladies and gentlemen….. RUTH!”

Music swells, strobe lights pierce the smoke, and there, clad in a Bob Mackie Gown…..

Three weeks of radiation is a horror show. Don’t know how she did it. Those daily exercises she does must be magic.

Who isn’t a fan? She is an amazing person. And she graduated from my high school (only 15 years ahead of me, which makes me feel ancient!) along with other distinguished people like Chuck Schumer (a classmate of my brother’s) , Bernie Sanders, and Judge Judy.

Jeff, Diane and I loved the RBG documentary from 2018 that showed what an incredible person she is. Diane and I tried to get tickets to the Ruth Bader Ginsburg event, but it was sold out in minutes!

George, we didn’t see Katie, but they just showed RBG on the news, getting an award and talking about everyone wanting to take pictures with her.

Jeff, Katie just arrived home from the RBG event. She’s over the moon seeing Ruth Bader Ginsburg in action. Katie said RBG was funny and in good spirits!
