SHEILA G’s THINDULGENT DARK CHOCOLATE BARK

As a diabetic, I’m always on the lookout for tasty, low-carb snakes. While I was wandering the aisles at Sam’s Club, I found Sheila G’s Thindulgent Dark Chocolate Bark. Crunchy almonds, cranberries, and puffed quinoa covered in rich dark chocolate topped with pumpkin sees and a dash of sea salt! Only 17 carbs per 40 gram serving. Yummy!

Sheila G also offers other Thindulgent snacks: Milk Chocolate Smores, Milk Chocolate caramel Pretzel, Milk Chocolate Cashew Toffee, and Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt. What’s your favorite snack?

Interesting mixture – probably not really cheap.

We like our ingredients separately usually, but make exceptions …
My wife likes dark chocolate with at least 50% cocoa – preferrably 70%.

And we both like dark German bread with sunflower seeds or even better:
Pumpkin seeds – that’s my favourite!
Here in Hungary and Austria they also make pumpkin seed oil, not cheap either but with a special taste – not for cooking, just as a topping on a salad or in a soup.
Generally I’m more the “salty guy”, also eat peanuts and other salted nuts (though I shouldn’t have too much …) while my wife is the “sweet thing” ….

    Have a nice Sunday, everbody!

Wolf, this one-pound bag of SHEILA G’S THINDULGENT DARK CHOCOLATE BARK only cost around $8 at Sam’s Club. Well worth it!

Although I generally favor salty/savory snacks, I’m afraid that bag would be empty within an hour of me opening it! To make it work, I’d have to carefully measure out the servings and put them in individual baggies–and even then, I’m afraid they’d be “calling” to me all day!

Deb, I know exactly what you mean by the “Call of the Snack.” If there are Peanut M & Ms in the house, I can’t resist!

Popcorn. It’s my favorite food, in fact. I try to pop it in an air popper but the ease of buying those skinny popcorn bags tempts me. I am trying really hard to stay away from sugar.

Patti, my wife also is a fan of popcorn – and it’s good and cheap here in Hungary:
three small bags of microwave popcorn (different tastes available) for around 1$!

And sometimes her dinner consists of just one of these bags …

I know Jackie would like this, though she called it “a pretty high calorie snack.”

The oat bran bars we eat are 140 calories and we eat half each. She says we eat an 80 calorie or less portion, like one square of Godiva chocolate or half of a chocolate graham cookie.

Jeff, I’ve found SHEILA G’S THINDULGENT DARK CHOCOLATE BARK is a good change-of-pace snack. And, fairly healthy, too! Jackie would love it!

there are too many things in that for me. I don’t often eat smooth and crunchy together. I wish the smores would have been with dark choc.

95% of the time I can eat just a small portion of something that is too high in calories, salt, carbs or sugar.. It’s that 5% that does me in.

I like Fiber One bars. the choc brownie has 90 calories, 1,5 gram sat fat, 90 mg sodium, 8g sugar and 5g fiber (20%) They’ve had some really good ones but they are only available for a limited time. Plus they have box tops for education.

I’ve also liked weight watchers choc mint, don’t have a box to read from, but think it’s pretty much like the fiber one bars.

I love getting bags of small bites of candy, as I can generally eat just one.

      Totally forgot to mention it:

Here in Hungary today is Mother’s Day – so I surprised my wife with a package of “After Eight” peppermint chocolate, one of her favourites.

We had a visitor today for lunch, an old friend of hers who was born in South America, grew up in the USA, married and divorced a Hungarian emigré, lived in Hungary, went back for work o the USA and now as a pensioner came to Hungary again …
Of course her $s are worth more here …

The two girls almost finished that chocolate package!

My wife loves After Eights, which she developed a taste for on our summer trips to Britain, where we often had them after Indian food.

        Yum.

after seeing the chocolate picture, I was too entranced to see the “S” word (I hate snakes as much as Don Sandstrom)

You might as well be eating a Snickers! This doesn’t look like it’s appropriate for either a dieter or a diabetic! Snakes? Yeah, I caught that! As for indulgences, I’m all over the map: pie, cake, doughnuts, candy, popcorn, chips, Ice cream, pizza, burritos, tacos, and anything else that’s no good for me!!! I just started cutting out most of that crap, however!!!!!

But white chocolate is good, especially with nuts and raisins!
Used to be one of my favourites – but now all kinds of sweet stuff only in small pieces for me …
It’s always funny when we buy those 2kg packages at the factory outlet of Ritter Sport (those square packages, they now come in different sizes – and of course in all tastes) and then have a look at what’s in this time – often it’s a new variation or just a package with a description in another language – the last white chocolate was described in Russian!

My main extra calorie intake however is from beer – seems I’m always thirsty.
