In my next life, I’ll create a cash cow like PEANUTS! I missed the boat this time around.
Fred, PEANUTS is a gold mine and continues to generate fans…and profits!
I love the strips through the mid sixties and as well as “A Charlie Brown Christmas ” and “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” but the later endless stream of specials over the decades got increasingly vapid with descending production values.
I’ve heard these are somewhat better than anything in awhile but I just don’t see the point. I wish creators would be more thoughtful about the rights to their IP and what happens to it after they are gone.
Byron, I’m not sure Charles Shultz would be pleased about what has happened to PEANUTS when others took over.
I preferred Peanuts before Snoopy became a breakout character! Linus was always my favorite!
Bob, I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Peppermint Patty.
As a kid, I liked the strip better than the animation…haven’t seen much of either since Schulz’s death.
The clay/plasticine ViewMaster reels were a bit stiff, but interesting to look at.
Todd, ViewMaster has been replaced by iPhones and iPads.
3D somewhat less effective, nor sought-after, in those contexts.
Todd, we’ll see what happens with AI and Snoopy.
Todd, the focus of current PEANUTS is merchandise: sweaters, jackets, backpacks, lunch boxes, etc. Big Buck!
