I love chocolate ice cream. And I subscribe to Consumer Reports. In a recent issue of CR, there were recommendations for chocolate ice cream. One of the recommendations was for Wellsley Farms Premium Chocolate Ice Cream sold at BJ’s Warehouse.
I bought the 64 ounce bucket for $5.59. From the first spoonful, I found Wellsley Farms Premium Chocolate Ice Cream smooth, creamy, and tasty. If you want some delicious chocolate ice cream at a reasonable price, Wellsley Farms Premium Chocolate Ice Cream delivers. What ‘s your favorite ice cream? GRADE: A
Favorite flavors: chocolate, peach, strawberry, coffee, butter pecan, pistachio, cherry. I am not that fond of combined flavors: chocolate clam, butterscotch olive, or strawberry succotash. When I was in high school the local ice cream shop sold grapenut ice cream (yeah, it tasted like the breakfast cereal) which I constantly devoured because I was in my rebellious years. Will do sherbets and frozen yogurt in a pinch. Much prefer regular ice cream over soft-serve. Chocolate chips belong in Toll House cookies and not ice cream. Sundaes, banana splits, shakes, and root beer floats are ambrosia.
I don’t favor any specific brand of ice cream because I am not an elitist.
Jerry, I’m more of a purist. But Diane is a big fan of Hot Fudge Sundaes.
If I’m having a sweet treat, I’d really rather have tiramisu or crème brûlée, but my favorite ice cream would be any version of chocolate gelato. Alas, my A1C makes that an extremely rare treat.
Deb, Diane is a big fan of Gelato, too. When she goes to NYC, Diane and Patrick and Katie indulge in the many great gelato stores. I stick to my chocolate ice cream.
I need to know the nutritional information. We eat Nick’s, largely because it has 7 grams of fiber per serving.
Plain chocolate? Dull. Just kidding. When I was a kid, my favorite flavor was vanilla. Nick’s had chocolate (for Jackie), triple chocolate brownie, mint chocolate chip, strawberry swirl, sea salt caramel, and coffee chocolate chip, among others.
When we’re on vacation we go for the premium ice cream stores and share a cup with two flavors, generally one with a chocolate (chocolate peanut butter, for example) and one plainer, like a coconut flavor.

I love ice cream. Larry’s a basic vanilla fan. I like mixes, Vons Safeway has some great ones, caramel and chocolate or mint chocolate chip. The only flavor I see that I would NEVER eat is coffee as I can’t even stand the smell of coffee. I also don’t like the texture of coconut, and don’t like nuts in anything.
Maggie, Diane loves mixed ice cream and custard, too.
Butter Pecan is a favorite, but I’ll have anything but mocha! I’m not fussy about the maker, but I think Ben and Jerry are a couple of A-holes!
Bob, Ben and Jerry aren’t in the ice cream business any more, but their ice cream lives on.
Well, these days I will basically eat only dietetic ice cream. Breyer’s No Sugar Added Chocolate cartons and Klondike NSA bars are my most common indulgence thus. I rather enjoy various bits and pieces in my ice cream when it’s less deadly to me and available…will put peanuts and “real” nuts in my carton ice-cream servings, for example, or add some fruit or NSA cookies, in whole or in crumbles.
Todd, Breyer’s ice cream of all varieties get good reviews.
