Tony Stark creates what he thinks will be a device that will insure Earth’s safety, but instead the result is Ultron (voiced by James Spader: a powerful Artificial Intelligence that decides the best way to deal with Humanity is to destroy it. There ware some great battle scenes. A couple new characters show up on the already crowded screen. There’s a love interest. And, of course, there’s Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Captain America, the Black Widow, and the Hulk. What more could you ask for in a Summer Action Movie? GRADE: B+

Prashant, MARVEL is owned by Disney. FOX owns the rights to Spider-Man. So Disney and FOX would have to make a deal…

Prashant, MARVEL sold off rights to some of their characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine and the Fantastic Four (FOX and Sony were the buyers). But now that Disney owns MARVEL, Disney wants to own the whole MARVEL Universe so they’re buying back the rights to those characters. And, Disney also bought the STAR WARS franchise. They’re going to be rolling in money!

We’re going to wait a couple of weeks until the kids all see it.

    And keep off my lawn!

Jeff, there were plenty of kids in the 11:30 A.M. showing I attended. But, once the movie began, they disappeared from my consciousness. You and Jackie will enjoy AVENGERS 2!

That’s not the origin of Ultron I remember from the comic book series, but I guess it doesn’t make any difference in a film like this. Since Barbara doesn’t like animation or superhero stuff, I’ll probably never see it anyway, I still haven’t seen the first Avengers movie…

Hope you all enjoy the movie!
    Still I’m wondering:

Though I’ve been an SF fan for more than 50 years I’ve never understood the fascination with superheroes.
We had superman comics in Germany – but I didn’t buy them …
Later in London in the big SF bookshops there were all those DC and Marvel comics available – I found them wanting, boring even …

    Something wrong with me?
PS: One “sin” I have to confess – I’ve been reading MAD for more than 50 years now (been a subscriber too for 40 years) and I’ve always enjoyed their movie/TV parodies!

Wolf, both DC and MARVEL built elaborate Universes for their superheroes. Plenty of comic book fans prefer living in those fantasy worlds than in the real one.

Carl, I’ve heard rumors that Josh Whedon says he’s done with AVENGER movies. Whedon did an amazing job on both films!
