Dan, I don’t understand why veterans don’t have the option of going to any doctor they want to see and have the VA pick up the bill. That’s where I would start in reforming the VA.

A big thank you to all our active duty military and veterans—and, for me, especially for my sister (25 years in the USAF). And Dan is right—we need to fix the VA.

Deb, the VA has been broken for years. Several Administrations have tried to fix it…and failed. Instead of fighting the bureaucracy, I would pass legislation that would allow all veterans to go to any doctor they want to and have the VA pick up the bill. The veterans would get the services and care they need.

The government would go broke in a month if all the vets went to private doctors! There are a few people trying to improve the quality of care at the VA but as people have said, the bureaucracy is massive and it’s hard to get most career federal employees that don’t give a rat’s ass to do anything! I’ve been trying to call some bum in Civilian Personnel at McChord for two months but he’s never at his desk and never returns calls! Time for a visit, methinks!

Bob, if the Government took the money it wastes on the VA bureaucracy and allowed veterans to go to private doctors (and paid the bills) the situation would improve.
